He'd tried not to pay attention to the girl's scattered thoughts of abandonment. He'd learned over the years how to discretely listen to thoughts without letting it be known he heard. But since the girl was so similar to him genetically, it was affecting him a little more than usual. He quirked an eyebrow and looked at her from across the table.
'You can stop that, you know.' He spoke into her mind, following a knowing smirk.
"Look, I can't make any promises, as is the nature of these alternate universes. What I can say is that whatever time is granted to us, we'll take advantage of. And no matter what happens... just know that everyone that has spent time with you still holds you in their hearts." He said, then feared he sounded too sappy. "So... stop it."
