"I'm not sure," she said, tilting her head. "After she disappeared things got sort of.. out of hand, and then the old headmaster came back. It's pretty well under control now, so..." she shrugged. "I guess you don't have to be."
"It's all right, I don't mind. It seems like a lot has happened." She frowned a bit. Most of it seemed bad, but maybe that was just the events that stood out right now. There had been good, too, hadn't there? "Ask whatever you like."
Sophie stuck to the menu, ordering a glorified Waldorf salad. It didn't seem right to order anything remotely greasy in front of Emma-Emmett, and she wasn't sure her stomach could handle it now, anyway.
