Watson still held the little communication device in his hands. He was certain Holmes had something to do with it. The man was always inventing things, and Watson had long since given up trying to keep abreast of what he was inventing, most of the time.

This was rather fabulous, though. It was sure to bring Holmes notoriety 'round the world. Watson might have felt a little jealousy, but he swallowed it down. And continued about his quest to find out just where he was.

He stepped out of the room in which he found himself, only to find himself in another room. It was rather like the boarding house, only...well, he wasn't sure how to describe it. He was thinking on it, and about the contraption in his hand, and hardly paying attention to where he was walking, or what he was walking in to...until he walked in to it.

'It' let out a rather undignified sound, having been completely immersed in watching the scenery out the window. Turning with a flourish, Holmes caught himself just in time to redirect his fist from Watson's throat to his shoulder.

"Good God, man, you scared the life from me!" Somewhere in the shouting, Holmes dropped his device, making a dismayed little sound as he saw it clatter to the floor.

"Perfect- just perfect..." And yet, when he picked it up, the light was still on. It still... worked, however it was working. "Why- how...?"

After Irene had thoroughly rolled her eyes at Holmes' nonsense, she'd gathered up the little device in her hand and then made her way out of the door. The whole place was a little camp for her tastes, and she thought it reminded her of New Jersey as a matter of fact.

Coming around the corner, she thought she saw two figures standing there in the middle of a larger room.

It didn't take a genius to figure out who it was.

"Oh good grief. I should have known better. Well that solves that conundrum."

"You...what...I..." Watson wasn't often found at a loss for words, but he had no earthly idea what to say, just then. He stared at the both of them, each in turn, then shook his head as if he meant to clear it.

"I mean to say, how..." He shook his head again. His thoughts were too jumbled to make any sort of sense.

"Yes, well, if you know how, I'm certain we would love to hear it." He was still inspecting the device in his hands, and then the scene at the window, only now he spared a glance for Irene every few moments. He still wasn't entirely certain this wasn't her doing.

Becoming engrossed in the device for a moment more, he frowned down, reading the response softly to himself. "There is another man, with one of these boxes. He says we are in the future. Like in some Jules Verne tale. How peculiar..." He sat down on the bed and went back to typing, leaving Watson and Irene to mull things over a minute.

It was kind of amusing that Watson assumed it was Holmes, and Holmes assumed it was Irene. And Irene, well she just assumed that this might all be a dream, or like that bloke had said, they were in some alternate dimension.

"2010, to be precise. And not only in the future, but apparently an alternate dimension as well, where the laws of our world do not necessarily apply. So either we've all gone mad, or this is the truth. I'm not sure which one is more likely, to be honest."

"2010? I do believe you've gone mad, Miss Adler," Watson said. he spared a glance at Holmes, but then shifted his focus back to Irene. He was never quite sure where he stood with her. "That would put us more than a century into the future. Perhaps we have all gone mad, as it were." At least he was speaking in complete sentence again.

Holmes glanced up from the screen after sending his last message, looking between the two of them thoughtfully. That light was back in his eyes, at least, after a few weeks away... even if it had to push through the otherwise-bloodshot expression common to Holmes' more altered states.

"That would seem to be the swiftest explanation, of course, but not the most comprehensive, by far. If we were the ones suffering the delusion, for instance, wouldn't it be the others telling us as much? Instead of furthering the fantasy, with their agreement. I dare say, if anyone or anything is mad here, it is the world itself." He held up the box in example, dropping it from sheer shock as it chirped with another message received.

Her shoulders just shrugged, and she held out the paper for Watson to see. "It says here that it's January, of that year." Then she gazed over at Holmes, wondering just who he was talking to. Oh well. At least he had a mystery to figure out and that meant not sitting around, brooding.

"They might be telling us we were crazy, if they weren't crazy too. So I suppose, yes the world has gone crazy. You don't actually believe we're in the future and in some other world do you?" she was entirely curious as to what Holmes thought. "It's not entirely rational thinking."

Watson snatched the paper out of Irene's hands. It took his eyes a moment to focus on the date. 2010. "Why, this is impossible. Surely it is some kind of trick..." But the scene outside the window was most certainly not the sort of scene Watson would expect. Carriages seeming to move on their own, the buildings looked different, even the people milling about. There were no children playing in the street, no games of chance off to the side that he could see...

"Mass hysteria, that's what it is." Watson, still clutching Irene's paper, made his way right up to the window. "We're seeing what isn't there. It's unreal. It's merely a vision of the future. Holmes, what have you been drinking? Perhaps you and I drank it too, Irene."

"Would that it could be, but how could we possibly start having the exact same delusion, before we even saw one another?" It took him a minute to backtrack to Irene's question, mind still heavily mulling over the reality in his hands, out the window.

"Rational, no, but for the moment, it's the only explanation readily available. Unless the pair of you truly did partake of the wine by the mantle, in which case I should warn you to eat something now. You'll be deathly ill, otherwise." Just what Irene was doing back in his apartment was a conundrum of its own, but stranger things had been happening for him lately. And it seemed far more likely, than... everything else.

Her head tilted to the side, "I suppose you're right. It's very unlikely we're all three hallucinating the same thing. Especially if we're seeing the exact same thing out the window." She shook her head a bit, "I wasn't drinking anything. The last thing I remember before here was being handcuffed.." She gave an eye in Holmes' direction. "And sitting on top of that bridge. And you had just left me to my own devices.."

Her nose wrinkled at the thought of drinking anything that could be found in his house that she hadn't made herself. "Then that gigantic wind came and, well it landed me here, as odd as that sounds."

"I was speaking with Mary, the last I recall. I'd given her an engagement ring." Made of the necklace Irene had been wearing, but Watson had the good sense not to mention that. He looked around, to each of the doors in the suite, but there were only three and Mary hadn't been with him, nor did it seem she was with either of the other two. "I'm quite certain if I were creating this reality in my mind, I would include Mary in my imaginings."

Holmes couldn't help a dry smile at the mention of the engagement ring- and at the realization that it didn't seem Mary was going to be privy to their next little adventure. "Are you? Certain, that is. Perhaps this is your subconscious attempting to reason with you." A beat, "What that says for my subconscious is still questionable, but then I should get my head together a bit, before worrying after myself."

Now that the device had stopped its infernal chirping, Holmes' attention was turned back to it, running his fingers along the seams as if searching for a way to pry it open. "On top of which, I'm rather certain this device is a bit beyond my imaginings. And it feels like nothing I have ever known... can a delusion change physical matter?"

Eying the both of them back and forth for a moment, she didn't say anything at all. She knew how hard it had been for Holmes when Watson said he was moving out and getting married. He didn't have anyone to rely on or fall back on. "All right, let's just.. go on the pretense that this is real and we're not being delusional. Just for now. If and when we .. come down from whatever we've had to drink, or eaten, then we'll figure out what's going on. But for now. What do we do?"

She glanced over at the thing in his hands, and shrugged her shoulder. "I think a delusion can really do whatever it wants. It's a delusion after all. Though until now, I don't think I've had one before."

Watson felt a little chastised, somehow, by both Holmes and Irene. He glowered, turning his focus to the scene outside the window. What was it about the two of them that made him feel like a child? He sighed and turned his back to the window, unable to process all the visual stimuli.

"I haven't any idea what the two of you wish to do, but I intend to find Mary." He reasoned that she must be around somewhere. He was unwilling to accept otherwise.

Holmes looked back up from what was now a pile of plastic components in his lap, at the next mention of Mary's name. It took him a moment to think back on what Watson had said.

"I would suggest calling the Yard, although somehow, I don't see it being in service, this far in the future," His eyes widened sarcastically with the last phrase, as he turned over the green-metallic back that was the innards of this new device.

"Peculiar. Not a power source in sight- just these small bits of metal..."

"All right, you see if you can find Mary. And I'm going to see if I can find out.. something. No matter if this is a delusion or not, I think we.." she trailed off as her hands wandered down her pockets (since she was still in pants) and pulled out a card. "This is odd.."

Glancing over at it, she hm'd. "It.. has my name on it. And an address.. of where I'm .. supposed to live I suppose?" That was something. "This definitely wasn't in my pocket before."

Watson was headed for the door. He intended to open that door and walk out. Where he was going, he didn't know. But Irene's words stopped him, and he turned back to look at her. He dipped a hand in his own pocket, pulling out a similar card. He frowned at it and turned to Holmes. "Well? What do you make of this?"

Holmes was completely immersed in the pile of plastic on the bed next to him. It took another (more forceful) question to make Holmes look up, arching a brow at him.

"I suppose that depends entirely on where the address is."

Irene gave a little sigh. "It says.. well it says Baker Street, but it doesn't say 221.. B or otherwise." she glanced up at Watson. "What does yours say?" she then looked back over at Homes. "Maybe you should look in your pocket and see if you have one?"

Watson frowned. he turned the little card around so Irene could see that his was more or less identical to hers. He said nothing, but turned his focus to Holmes, waiting to see if the man would comply and check his own pockets. He had a feeling he already knew what it was going to say.

"[Address], Baker Street, indeed." He nodded over to the side table next to the bed, where the card had been sitting for the duration of the conversation.

He hadn't just been fiddling with the device while waiting, of course. He wasn't naive.

"Which leaves us with this either being a very crude- and ineffectual- form of abduction, or..."

Irene glanced at Watson's card, and then Holmes' and then sighed. "Or we're crazy.. or this is real." She still didn't get why they were in this hotel though. "Right then, oh fearless leader, what do you suggest we do?" she was looking pointedly at Homes. "Especially at the fact that we all seem to live together."

"I should think that is to say you and I are in charge of making sure Holmes does not burn down the city with his experiments." Watson shook his head. He was now certain Mary would be waiting there for them.

The comment earned Watson a pointed glare. "It was only the one wall, and the paper covered it nicely. You are never going to let that go, are you?" He frowned, scooping up the pieces of his small phone and dumping them in the pocket of his coat.

"Well, are we going to venture to the address, see what there is to see? Or abuse the hospitality of this..." A sniff as he looked around, "Fine establishment another night?"

Irene's lip curled up in an amused kind of smile. "Oh quite right too. All right then. Since we're in charge of keeping him in line." She looked amusedly at Watson before trying not to give the same look to Sherlock.

"Yes let's get out of here before there are rats crawling up inside my coats." She made sure that she got all of her stuff before heading towards the door and opening it. "Gentlemen.."
