The more hunched over and upset her dad looked, the worse Callie felt. She wished she was back home, not just so that she would have her normal mom and dad back, but also so that the teenage-version of her dad wouldn't be so miserable. Logically, she knew she didn't ask to be transported back in time to some crazy universe, but she still felt guilty. She'd already driven her dad to binge drinking once.
Callie sat up a little when he offered her a pretzel. "Um.. Sure. Thanks." Her stomach didn't really feel that great, but maybe eating something would help. She reached into the bag and pulled out one of the little pretzels, popping it in her mouth. "Like flying first class," she said, after she'd swallowed it. "Oh.. Is that joke funny yet?"
"Man, it's really busy around here, huh?" she said, glancing around. Maybe the doctor had gotten caught up in an emergency, or maybe Callie'd gotten the time wrong.
