Who: Rahne Sinclair and Iggy
What: One of many interviews re: Taunton bombing
Warnings Nope!

Rahne had split up her staff into teams. Some of them were examining the crime scene, while others were interviewing students and staff. With Rahne's particular talents, it made sense for her to sniff out things on the scene. After lunch, though, it seemed about time to give people a break.

She glanced down at her clipboard before peeking in the window of the meeting room. A boy with wings sat inside. She opened the door and walked into the room. She sat down and smiled at him, trying to be comforting and non-threatening. "Iggy? Sorry t'make ye wait. We have a few questions we'd like t'ask ye."

"Yeah." He said, blinking up at the voice, "That's me, s'fine, I'm good at keeping myself occupied." He had, in fact, been doing homework, but he flipped the book closed and set it aside.

He shrugged, the movement mostly wings, "Shoot."

No one would describe Rahne as 'smooth', but she really was making an effort. "Ye were at the dance, aye? Did ye see anything suspicious that day? Anyone around the school that shouldn't be there?" She glanced up from the clipboard and realized that he wasn't quite making eye contact with her. Her brow furrowed and she frowned slightly. "Um.."

There was a small smile at that, amused, mostly, "I haven't really seen anything for a few years now." He shrugged again, "But nobody I know was acting suspiciously, if that helps. And, uh, there's been graffiti and stuff, I'm the one who found the first one. Well, I'm the one who reported it first, anyway. Other people might've seen it and not said anything."

"Oh," she said, frowning as she wrote something down on the clipboard. She cleared her throat, feeling a little flustered. "Ye found it? When was that?" She had some information about the graffiti, but it would be good to get some corroboration on the reports. "What did it say? Do ye know?" She wasn't really sure how a blind boy would be able to report graffiti.

"I'm not sure what it said." He said, shaking his head, "They wouldn't tell me, see, I can feel colors, with my fingers?" He shrugged, "And sometimes I use the wall just to gauge where I am, and part of it was green where it should have been brick."

Another head-shake then, "It was out by the pool, opposite side of the gym." His brow furrowed, something had been nagging at him ever since she'd entered the room and he hadn't been able to pin it down until just then, sitting bolt upright, almost bolting from the chair, really, bag in hand, ready to make a break for it, "Eraser." He knew that the antisepticy smell was all in his head, that there was nothing around that would be causing it, but the vaguely wet-dog smell, that he recognized, and he was hoping it wasn't too late, "I knew you guys would show up eventually, I knew it and I stayed here anyway."

Rahne's eyes widened, startled and confused by the sudden change in his demeanor. "What?" She stiffened. "Iggy, calm down," she said, harshness entering her voice as she went into leader mode. "My name is Rahne Sinclair. I'm with a detective--"

The door opened and Ahsoka burst in. "Hey, Rahne? I think Molly found something outside. She needs you to go look at it. It's really important." Ahsoka shut the door after Rahne left, giving out a calming vibe to try and make Iggy more comfortable. "Hi, I'm Ahsoka," she said brightly, reaching out a hand to shake Iggy's. She let her fingertips brush lightly against his shirt sleeve so he'd know where she was.

He'd been about to snap at her, she didn't have that perfect-smooth voice that the Erasers had, which just made him more suspicious, maybe they'd gotten better at making them. Before he could say anything, or even do anything but back himself into a more defensive stance, they were interrupted.

His brow furrowed, puzzled, more than anything at the moment, and this one definitely didn't smell like an Eraser. He was still on-guard though, even as he accepted the handshake, brow furrowing further, "Uh... okay so this probably sounds really rude, especially coming from a blind kid with wings, but are you ...orange?"

Ahsoka grinned brightly. "Yup. I'm Togruta. From another planet. We're orange." She sat down across from him. "Do you do the echolocation thing at all?" she asked, curious. "I can do some of that, too. I have these little montrals.. They're kind of like horns. And they're hollow and I can get a feel for things around me, you know?"

That wasn't on the clipboard, but she needed him to chill out before she continued with the interview.

His brow was still furrowed, still a little on edge. He nodded vaguely at the question, "Sort of, it's a little more like sonar, since too much background noise cancels it out."

His heart was still racing, the adrenaline dump still making him edgy, ready to make a break for it, though sitting down once more all the same.

Ahsoka nodded. "That makes sense." She reached out gently with the Force, hoping to calm him down a little more. "Iggy, do you mind if I ask you a couple more things? We're trying to find the person who set the bomb. Anything you can tell us might help."

"Yeah." He shook his head then, dragging a hand up over his face, "I mean I don't mind, go ahead."

He made a mental note to apologize to Rahne, and explain if he had the chance.

"Okay, cool," Ahsoka's interview style was a little more informal than Rahne's, at least when it came to her peers. If she was addressing the Jedi Council or something, she would've been a lot more formal, but she was pretty sure the relaxed style would help put Iggy at ease.

"So, you mentioned the graffiti," she said, glancing at Rahne's notes. "Have you noticed any other anti-mutant stuff? Or anti-alien or wizard or whatever? Gangs or people getting beat up? Or even teachers?"

"Well there were a couple petitions going around, one to make the school non-human only, and another to keep it the way it is." A shrug, "And my girlfriend started the first one after I got beat up by some jerks on the football team."

She nodded, adding an "Ah," for Iggy's benefit. X-Factor already had copies of the petitions. Ahsoka didn't really think they would find a lead there, but they were working on it.

"Beat you up?" She frowned. They hadn't known that was why the petition was started. They hadn't talked to the girl who started it yet. "Can you tell me the names of the guys?" They could just interview the whole team, but it would be good to narrow it down.

He shook his head, "Would if I could, but I don't really know, it was a few of them, and it was the stairs that did the most damage, they, uh, tripped me." He shrugged, "Sprained wrist was the worst of it, just some other scrapes and stuff from the tumble."

He shook his head again, "It was the tail end of a string of petty crap like opening locker doors when I went past so I banged into them, that kind of thing."

"Oh, okay," she said. The girlfriend might know more. Ahsoka made a note. "Well, I think that's about it.." She frowned as she looked at the bottom of the clipboard, then opened the thin folder she had.

"Hey, one more thing I have to ask you about.." She didn't want to ask him. She was pretty good at reading people, and she didn't think Iggy could've done this. "I hate to bring this up, but your file says that you've.. dabbled in demolitions?"

"Dabbled is a good word for it." He said, nodding, "But that was back home, haven't done anything here." He shrugged, "Haven't needed to, it was a self-defense thing back home, we, me and my family, had people who wanted us dead, or worse."

"Okay," she said, nodding and writing that down. "Do you keep supplies?" Sometimes old habits died hard, especially if it had to do with self-defense. She saw how freaked out Iggy had been earlier with Rahne, and Ahsoka was betting Iggy's closet wasn't just full of old shoes. "Iggy, would anybody else have access to it?" Maybe they'd get lucky and this boy would help them find whoever did this.

He sighed, dragging a hand through his hair again, and normally he wouldn't have said anything, but this was serious, "Yeah, I do, nobody knows I've got it though, well, Angel probably does, my sister, she's a mind reader, so I couldn't keep it a secret from her even if I wanted to."

He shook his head, "But I haven't even looked in there for a few months, like I said, it's just kind of habit to have it around in case."

"Okay," Ahsoka said. She was sure he was telling the truth. It was a little bit disappointing. Seemed like they were really close. "If you think of anything else.. Anything at all.. Just give us a call, okay?" She felt really grown up saying that.

She stood up, closing the folder. "You can ask for me, if you want. Ahsoka," she reminded him, smiling. "Rahne can be a little grumpy sometimes." Especially after a few days with no sleep.

He smiled, though it was a little thin, "It's okay, my fault." He shrugged, "Thought she was something else is all. Let her know I'm sorry for freaking out?"

"I'll tell her." She smiled. "Don't worry about it. Really." Rahne was probably happy for the excuse to get out. The older girl didn't really care being at a desk, and would probably be more at ease back at the crime scene. Ahsoka liked Rahne well enough, but she wouldn't call her a 'people person'.

"Thanks for helping us out, Iggy. Careful with those supplies and everything."
