Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:anne bonney, brendann brennan, henriette stillman, jack sparrow (vampirate), maison roberts, samira

Who: Anyone who's seen her post here (or any of the ones prior, or anyone who's been told by a friend or a friend of a friend or y'know, anyone.)
Where: Anne's place in Key West
What: Orphans' Thanksgiving Weekend
Warnings: Knowing this group? Probable.
When: Thursday mid-day through whenever the leftovers are gone and/or everyone goes home.

There was rain predicted later in the day, but just at the moment it was simply cloudy, which suited Anne just fine, since it meant she could leave both sides of the house open so she could see people coming and not smoke everyone out with the turkey roasting. The bird had been in the oven almost long enough, and at that particular moment she was basting again, her hair looped up in a braid to keep it from getting into anything.

(ooc:Party thread folks, food's in the kitchen, games are in the back room, music's in the front, smoking's out on the back patio. Eat, drink, be merry, talk amongst yourselves, don't make a mess and if you do, clean it up. I've got sub-threads for locations, but feel free to start your own, I'm rarely so organized.)

Kitchen (where the food's at)

In the kitchen the table already had the extra wings in it and was very nearly groaning just under the dishes Anne had made, let alone what other people had brought, there was a stack of plates and a basket of napkins and utensils at either end, buffet style. Desserts and snacks were spread out along the breakfast bar and drinks in various coolers beneath it.

Brendann had spent the whole day before cooking, but not at his restaurant. He knew that Anne would have plenty of food, but he also knew that he loved cooking, especially Thanksgiving food. Fall harvest had a lot of foods he liked, squashes and things. He'd made some vegan stuffing (just in case), some carrot vichy, butternut squash with brown butter, and two pies - pecan and pumpkin/butternut squash cheesecake with crème fraîche.

He'd put all the food on the buffet table before going back to Maison's to get his boyfriend.

Anne, being Anne, grinned and greeted him and helped get everything settled.

Maison was ready, he even had a basket of authentic corncakes and a pot of acorn mash, he figured if he was going to be the party's only authentic Indian, he should make the most of it. He'd even braided his red streaks, tying feathers into the end of one. He grinned, buzzing Brend up, and reminding himself yet again that he really should get the other man a key.

Jogging up the stairs, Brend opened the door. He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Maison. "Ow. Sudden boner ow ow ow ow."

Maison arched a brow at that, but he smiled crookedly, shaking his head, "Damn you're easy." He was always amused by this fact, and now was no different.

"I'm not easy, you're just hot." He hobble-shuffled toward his boyfriend, wrapping his arms around his shoulders and snogging him firmly. "Seriously."

This was something else Maison was totally fine with, smirking faintly into the kiss as he looped his arm against the back of Brend's neck, dipping him deeply.

"Are you ready to go eat until we can't move and then potentially embarrass ourselves?" He was thrilled to finally take Maison to a semi-family function.

"Sounds like the best plan I've heard all day." He said, letting Brend up and handing him the basket of corncakes, "Here, you can help me carry things." There was a browarch then, still amused, "You going to be okay until we get there?"

"I'll be fine! It'll go away in a few minutes." He smiled sheepishly, holding the basket with surprisingly strong arms for such a skinny boy.

"'kay, just making sure." He said, picking up the pot of acorn mash and tucking it into the crook of his arm, holding it out of the way as he leaned in to kiss Brend's forehead, "Right, let's go."

"Trust me, a boner isn't that big of a deal," Brend grinned. "I almost sprained my ankle this morning because someone forgot to wipe up some truffle oil. That's a big deal."

"Ouch." He said, locking up behind them and heading down the stairs for the nearest portkey, "I'm glad you didn't, that would suck, having to go to the ER on Thanksgiving."

He laughed, shaking his head, "I'm good at bandaids, not so much with breaks and sprains. Though I did set a couple fingers once, it was kind of an emergency situation type deal though."

"Sprains are easy, you just ice them and elevate them and then you distract me for an hour or four." He waggled his eyebrows, kissing his shoulder.

"Oh. That I think I could manage." He shrugged, keeping an arm looped around Brend's waist as he bumped the portkey, nose wrinkling slightly on landing, the same as always, "Though we might want to practice, just to make sure."

"What, me sticking a leg in the air? I can do that." He chuckled and rubbed Maison's back once they'd arrived. "Come on, we'll get you some ginger ale."

"Mmhmm," was the reply, "And me keeping you distracted for an hour or four."

Anne had caught the last exchange, "Got some of the real kind in the back of the fridge, shaved ginger and everything."

Maison smiled, setting down the pot and taking the basket of corncakes from Brend, putting it on the table as well, "She's my new favorite, just so you know."

The front room (where the music's at)
[info]foughtlikeaman
2009-11-26 04:00 am UTC (link)
The front room had been cleaned, new throw pillows tossed onto the couches and chairs, at that any given moment there was likely Doors on the stereo, though Anne did have an extensive collection and wouldn't fault anyone turning it down so they could converse.

Sami had decided that she quite liked Anne's taste in music, and had found something just a little up-tempo, without being either too annoying or too fast, and was attempting to get a pre-dinner dance-a-thon going, "It'll be good for you." She laughed, snagging the nearest person, "Work up an appetite."

The back parlor had likewise been cleaned, the TV moved into it, along with the entertainment center, there were sitting cushions strewn about, as well as low-lying tables and a full set for RockBand in the corner, Anne liked the game.

At some point during the evening, Henn found herself perched on a beanbag chair, not-quite curled up and not really sprawled, but comfortable and enjoying the veritable quiet of the back room.

Back Patio (and beach!)

The back patio was screened in to keep out the weather, but also to allow some fresh air, and a place to rest away from the hubbub of inside, there was also a lovely view of the bay and a stretch of beach further down.

Jack, being Jack, had made himself the unofficial greeter, moving to help with packages and dishes whenever someone arrived, smiling crookedly as he was prone to doing.
