She responds to his "flattery" with a not-very-heartfelt snort -- the kind that serves to keep things from getting too mushy. She accepts the lollipop, though, and takes his hand as she takes it, and pulls him down so she can kiss his cheek before letting go and popping the candy in her mouth with a smile.
"Thank you," she says after a moment. "For finding me. And... for thinking I'm normal."
Her grin fades as she continues, "You were right about him. I just don't know what to do about it now. He terrifies me. His... protectors terrify me. I'd have told Judah not to get involved if I'd known he intended to, but I knew about them before... I just... what scares me more than anything Cass could ever pull, with all his juvenile pranks, is that as soon as I fight back, or anyone on my behalf, he has these gods and wizards who come out of the woodwork and... Jesus, Tej, I ain't exactly helpless, but... I don't even know what I did to deserve him hounding me in the first place, and then he's got these gods who seem content to run over a 20-year-old mortal girl because Cass is annoyed? Christ, just thinking about it makes me want to keep running and never go back there. It's damn tempting. And it's damn scary that when he pulls this shit on me, everyone I love just... steps aside and disappears, or... even Soren wouldn't say a word against him. I don't mean to sound all emo, but I'm having a hard time thinking of a reason to go back there, or a reason not to disappear completely."
She sighs and puts the lollipop back into her mouth.
