"That's cool," Hope said, and she meant it. She liked learning about people's powers. "How fast is it? Could I keep up?" She knew she couldn't keep up with an airplane, but she'd never heard of a hovercraft. "I might get a little vertigo flying without my wings, you know? It'd be weird." It wasn't so much a trust issue--she knew if there was a problem she could get away--but she'd just relearned to fly with her new vision, and she didn't want to think about the headache a new type of transport might cause.
"Yeah. I never had friends before I came here," she confessed. She shrugged. "It was too risky."
