"You will be better, once you have properly fed," Rurik muttered. He made his way to the door and pulled it open. The night air was brisk, and a gentle breeze lifted his hair.
He started down toward the street, stopping with a sudden lurch. Someone was nearby, watching them. Perhaps waiting for them. Rurik glanced back at Kai, then out to the street, where a man sat in a car directly in front of the house.
Realising he'd been detected, he unfolded himself from the car. "Malakai?" His eyes darted between kai and Rurik, uncertain which to settle on. "We never officially met. Cash Harris. Gatlin's brother. You said if I ever needed anything..."
Rurik arched a brow, looking to Kai for some kind of explanation. Or perhaps he was amused that a potential meal had sought Kai out.
