Who: Henn & Soren
Where: Wolfpackhaus
When: Thursday sometime
Warnings: None likely for once.

Henn wasn't worried, not really, she didn't have the capacity for it with her emotions shut down, but she knew it wasn't normal to have one's emotions detached for so long. She'd done everything she knew how to do, and so far it hadn't worked.

At that particular moment she was sitting on her shelfnest, eyes closed, more-or-less meditating, just listening to the house around her, brow creased slightly in something like confusion. She could pick up on the emotional states of everyone in the house, everyone she met, and she remembered what those emotions were like, but she couldn't get herself to feel them now.

"We'll have to move though, I don't have movie-watching capability in the nesting area. Or even in the same room. It's a book and crafts room." Just in case he didn't know that already.

"Oh, fine," he mock-sighed. Standing up, he turned around and picked her up lightly, twirling her a little before setting her back down. "You can even pick out the movie."

There was none of the usual squeaking or giggling at the twirl, really she was just a little like a ragdoll, steady enough once he'd set her down, "What movies do we even have any more?"

"A bunch, really." He moved to where the TV and movies were, flopping down on the floor and moving to look through them. He picked out a comedy and held it up for her approval.

She nodded, settling herself on the couch, "That works." She patted the floor in front of her, "Put it on then c'mere."

He did as was instructed and smiled - who didn't like Anchorman? - and then sat back down on the couch.

Henn was watching like someone studying a foreign culture, head tilted just slightly as she combed her fingers through Soren's hair, working on a tidy rope-style French braid, taking her time with it to make sure it was even.

Soren, however, couldn't help but smile, and eventually chuckle to himself, stretching out and purring at the fingers in his hair. "Mmph, you're right, I was stressed out."

"Mmhmm." She nodded, still working slowly, mostly so that she could scritch gently at his scalp as she did so, "I could tell." Just like right now she could tell he was amused, and worried, but mostly amused.

He bit his lip and smiled when she scritched him. He couldn't respond with his usual arousal - she wasn't herself, it didn't feel right at all - but it still felt nice. "You're smart that way."

She shrugged, "It's not smart, really, it's just like food. Knowing the difference between ..." Her brow creased once more, finishing the tail end of the braid and tugging an elastic off her wrist to tie it down with, "Like knowing the difference between salt and sugar."

"I'm just food to you?" He chuckled and waited until his hair was tied back to lean more fully against her. "Am I sugar or salt, then?"

"Everybody is, to some extent, and individual people aren't just one thing, individual emotions are hardly even one thing, happiness, for instance, can be contentment or joy or glee or even just peace, and none of those are the same 'taste' for lack of a better word."

She shook her head then, "And it's not just the emotion, it's the whole energy field. People give off more electricity when they're scared and there's more magnetic impulses when the adrenaline's high."

"That makes sense. I was mostly teasing." He turned his head to kiss her knee, the part of her closest to him, and smiled contentedly. Even though she was off, she was still Henn in a lot of ways.

She nodded, petting a hand over his hair, "I know you were, but you could probably use the explanation anyway. It's easier to explain now, I think."

He smiled up at her, closing his eyes and shrugging. "I'm sort of jealous. I've wanted to do what you did so many times in my life."

She tilted her head, brow creasing, "What part? Because the shutdown isn't worth it. It makes people worry."

"Oh, most of my teenage years would have been nice. Recently. I made people worry anyway, at least I wouldn't have done any stupid things." Like so many times prior, his fingers went to his wrists, tracing the long, ugly scars there.

She shook her head, "Stupidity isn't an emotion, sure it can be caused by them, but it still would have been there, possibly worse without the attachment involved."

He shrugged. "It's in the past, sort of a moot point anyway." He felt his fingers move to his neck, covering what would have been a scar if Sadako hadn't healed it. Many times he'd thought about her bringing it back, but he knew it would've made Cass cry.

Henn had managed to miss most of that incident, somehow, her fingers settled lightly against the back of his hand, "I know it's in your nature, and it's like telling you not to be blond, but you really shouldn't worry so much."

"I think I got it from Mom. Pappa doesn't seem to ever worry about anything. Or if he does, he hides it really well." He smiled and moved his hand away, linking it with hers. Making himself focus on the movie helped a little bit.

She nodded again, just resting her chin on his head, glad that he was tall enough, even sitting, that she didn't have to fold over too far to do it, "It does come more naturally to some people than to others."

"I think it's genetic, seriously." He couldn't help giggling when the movie got to the bear fight part, if only because it was so obviously staged.

Once again Henn's head tilted, brow creasing just slightly as she watched, it was like trying to make sense of someone else's humor, in their native language. She understood that it was funny, but she didn't feel it herself.
