"Ok." Nodding a bit as his explanation, she smiled, perfectly content to let it drop. It wasn't that she wanted to hear - more that she didn't want him to feel it was somehow taboo to talk.
"People are, by their nature, curious - in a way, it's what's has let humanity thrive. I've always been in a bit of awe of those who've been different in such an obvious way and said "Here I am... stare if you want" rather than locking themselves away. Of course, half the fun of a sideshow is that it's almost all gaff - whereas I'd never really want to stare and gawk at a mermaid, I've no problem giggling at the extents to which some guy wanting a buck will go to convince me that chick in a costume really has gills, you know? And there are things people just... do themselves, because they want to be gawked at... look at this." She pointed at the sign, listing the freak attractions. "Imelda the sword swallower, swallows a neon sword - that sucker breaks, she's dead. I guess it's no different than extreme sports, or wrestling a minotaur."
