Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:erik northman, pam

Who: Erik & Pam
What: Getting Pam's bearings, probably some new shoes and clothes.
Where: First Biloxi and then NYC/Greenwich
When: Tonight.
Warnings: Typical vampire fare. Probably some other crap.

True to his word, Erik arrived at the address Pam gave two hours and twelve minutes after he left the last note on the board. He leaned against a tree and crossed his arms, waiting for her to show up. He wouldn't ever admit it, or even show it, but he was quite glad Pam arrived not long after he did. He was starting to get bored without her. He silently went over a list of things he'd need to tell her, for the few days that he'd been around, he was very productive.

And true to her own word, as soon as Pam had stopped talking to Erik, she'd gone and gotten herself someone to eat. That had taken not too long, some nice young girl who barely knew her way around any more than Pam had. After she was done and disposed of the body, she went to get Erik his own late night snack. The girl had been glamoured but she was all scrumptious.

Leading her over to where Erik was, she held the girl out in front of her. "Isn't she pretty?"

"Delightful, yes. Thank you, Pam," Said Erik with a small nod, practically pulling the girl's arm out of her socket before feeding on her. The way he worried at the wound in her neck was indicative of his four days of various not-quite-right outcomes, and soon, the girl's body was limp and spent.

He paused, holding up a single finger to Pam, before walking off and disposing of the body, before returning. "Get what you want from here now, we're not returning. You'll find that Area 1 has become quite a little paradise for us." He swaggered over to her with a small, smug smile. He was all but oozing pride.

If Pam had been the kind of girl to smile, she would have smiled at Erik. Instead she relented her hold on the girl and let Erik pick her up quite easily. She wasn't the rude type to stare while a person ate, so Pam decided to pick the lint off her shirt. Thankfully she was still wearing the clothes she'd been in before she came to this god awful place, so at least there was that.

She waited, staring off as vampires often did. Or at least their kind of vampires often did. "From here? I'll never want anything from Mississippi, you can be sure of that." For whatever reason, she hated the state and she was all to happy to get out of there. "Area 1? That's what you're calling it, or did the person you replaced pick that out for you too?"

"It's always been Area 1. I've decided to take New England as my new seat of power. I've even got local help. I have a new bouncer, since I entirely doubt Chow will find his bumbling way here. Her name is Calliope." He wrapped his arm around her waist, holding her securely to him while he took off, and continued to talk to her and update her on the entire situation as they flew back to New York.

It was only a couple hours flight, but he managed to keep things succinct - how he'd spoken with all the vampires who were on the boards, how he proposed a new set of laws to keep the hunters at bay and their kind from overpopulating or dying out from their own inherent stupidity, and how most in New York were willing to abide by the rules he posed, while the ones on the board didn't particularly favor him or his ways.

He set down on the rooftop patio of Club 13. "So, I'm supposing they need the delicate touch of a woman to help soothe their chafed asses over the thought of an alliance."

Ah, and here she thought he was just talking about this new club of his. Maybe she'd learn to like New England. Maybe. Though she wasn't sure what she'd do about the cold except leave every winter. She didn't really remember what the cold was like honestly, they'd lived down south for so long. "A new bouncer, and it's a woman?" was all she said, but she said it in that way and gave him the evil pursed duck lips of death that meant he was two seconds away from getting beat.

At least she would wait until they weren't up in the air anymore. She listened to his stories about the vampires here and what all was going on. It was actually pretty interesting as far as things went. She did like a challenge and new things were always fun. Once he set her down on the patio, she leaned over and hit him. On the arm though. "That. Is for hiring a woman before I got here."

She smoothed down her dress. "I'll see what I can do, but I'm hardly delicate. Maybe you should have asked your darling Sookie. Or is she not here either?"

"She's here, but she's made herself incredibly scarce since my arrival. And Lafayette as well. However," Erik said, rubbing his arm only as a cursory gesture and nothing more, "I've met a more interesting psychic. She is not human. No, wait... She is mostly human, but she's a different kind that I've never met before. She's interesting, I'm sure you'll meet her soon, at any rate. Her name is Sadako."

He put up his hand, "And before you hit me for that one as well, I have yet to hire her for anything. She simply came to gawk. Apparently, vampires don't exist where she's from, and she wanted to meet one of the oldest she'd heard of. Now that we're here, have a look around, get your bearings. I'll make a list of stores that are open at this hour, and we can go shopping."

Oh great. Another little telepath for him to get all excited over. Pam rolled her eyes just slightly enough for him to notice. She was a bit surprised that Erik hadn't gone after Sookie, but she supposed that being busy getting things ready and this new girl was taking up all of his time. "Mostly human, and a telepath and something else? Is she pretty? Does she taste good?" That was the only thing she cared about.

She didn't hit him again, though she had glared a bit more. No vampires where she was from? Well that was certainly interesting. Maybe this place wouldn't be so bad after all. Her head nodded, "You're off the hook this time. I'll go look around." And see who was around that she could scare. "I'll meet you downstairs in 20."

He ran a hand through her hair with a small pout. "I didn't feed from her, I was too busy with one of the waiters." He actually had been doing his best not to feed from new acquaintances. Though the waiter was too good to pass up. He followed down to the second floor, where he took a seat in his chair and pulled out his blackberry, looking for a place that was open at all hours that sold designer shoes and clothes. It didn't take long, and he found that to his delight, it was in the area. It was only a few blocks from the three-floor nightclub.

He knew Pam would be jealous. He knew she'd be upset, and he'd actually been planning this from the moment he landed. He knew that she'd need a shopping spree, and unlimited funds to get back at him for whatever tiny, insignificant transgressions he'd done, and then he figured he'd find her someone to play with for a while.

Twenty minutes went by and he went down to lean against the bar and give her a little smile. "Are we ready to go, now?"

Pouting, was that what he was reduced to? It was hardly fair. Her nose scrunched up faintly in response. She wondered if she had to tell him to keep it that way, but she figured that he already knew. She made her way into the actual club and then made her way around, checking everything out. Anyone she didn't recognize she growled, snarked and snapped at. And anyone that gave her lip got a broken face for their trouble. At least she didn't get blood on her sweater.

By the time she got back down to Erik, she was feeling much better. Less jealous and more ready to go shopping. She just didn't want her place being taken over, though she knew deep down that it would never happen. There was a reason she'd been second for this long, and a reason he'd turned her in the first place.

Her head nodded just slightly, "Ready as I'll ever be."

"Excellent. Tonight is of course, on me." He offered his arm to her, and proceeded out the door with a tiny look of remorse on his face. Of course, he hired Calliope with every intention of the redhead taking orders from Pam alone. He couldn't be bothered with the messy aspect of business, and he figured the two of them would get on like a house on fire. As he walked Pam down the street, through picturesque Manhattan, he was quiet. All that he felt needed to be said had already been said, and he was ready to become the parcel pack mule of the night. He wouldn't say it, but he enjoyed helping Pam shop. It was one of those things where a smile on her face was pure.

He smiled once they hit the district where things were still open. "Your pick of places, Pam. I promise not to say no to anything."

He knew the right way to pamper her, she had to give him that. And the right way to make things up to her. Of course she didn't quite know yet that Calliope and her were meant to get along, or that they would so well. Once she met the other woman, she'd probably get it of course. The two of them were actually very much alike, though Pam didn't know that quite yet. With her arm through his, she let him lead the way out on the town. New York was quite different, but the times she'd been here she really liked it.

"I suppose I'll need both things for me and things for work. All right then." Once she chose a shop she went inside and started to shop immediately. Sure she spent too much time on shoes, and all of her clothes were pastel and looked like they were for soccer moms or socialite's, but she liked it. She even modeled some of the clothes for him, since he was there and all.

"Remember. You said you wouldn't say no."

"I won't say no but I will try to talk you out of that suit dress," Erik said with a small, playful smile. "Go ahead, get it all." He offered their personal attendant in the store his credit card and looked over at Pam. "You're sure you don't want that in blue, not pink?" He pointed at her current outfit, looking a bit chagrined. Pink looked awful on anyone, and washed her naturally pale skin out and made her look like a mannequin.

He'd learned long ago just to go with the flow when it came to her outfit choices. He probably didn't get it at all, and truthfully she didn't either really. Though of course there was just the fact that she couldn't look like a walking advertisement for True Blood, or anything silly like that. Plus, she just liked it. She glanced down at her outfit a bit petulantly. "The suit dress looks just fine, thank you. But now that you said it, maybe I'll get it in blue and pink."

She gave him a smug smile and went to go try on the next thing. And get the same thing in blue. She even actually got a pair of jeans and a t-shirt just in case. One never knew if they needed to blend in somewhere. "All right, onto some trashy place to pick up clothes for work." And maybe scare the hell out of the cashier.

"You really don't have to dress up like a tart if you don't particularly want. We'll be the first real vampire club on this earth, I've yet to hear or see any others. The reason is that there isn't True Blood here. Though I'm in negotiations to have a blood gin concoction being sold solely at our venue." He shook his head, "I really don't want to give into the usual stigma, but if you insist..." Standing and taking his card back, as well as the several bags, Erik raised a brow to Pam. "I'm sure we can find a little designer place that caters to rock stars instead of some Hot Topic knockoff."

It was almost like they were all back in the closet, except where there was that whole thing where people actually knew about them. She was glad there wasn't any True Blood, that stuff bored her. She shook her head, "No no. If you don't mind, I'd just as soon wear my regular clothes. The first and only real vampire bar sounds like a treat." Completely with June Cleaver over here. That was way scarier than some bitch in all black. "I'd be forever grateful not having to wear any more black than necessary."

"Good." Mostly for his checking account. If he had to buy any more clothes for work, it'd take twice as much money and she'd complain, besides. "Let's go back to the club, bring these packages to the car, and then get home. I'll call Calliope and let her take charge of the club for tonight. I've got a very upset Pam to calm." He leaned against the door to open it, holding it for her.

Hey look! He was almost being gentlemanly. "Your majesty," he quipped once she walked past.

"Very well." Maybe she'd find some nice young human to just follow her around and hold her things for her. Like her purse, or things she was going to buy in a store. It sounded like fun anyway. She grabbed the packages up and left the store. He was being a bit patronizing, but he was right, he did have an upset Pam to calm. "I expect you know how to do that." Calm her down, she meant. She still kind of wanted to kill a lot of somethings.

She nearly glared at him for his quip, but instead just got in the car so that they could go home.

And a lovely car, it was. Erik couldn't help but love it, it was overpowered, overpriced, and overtly flashy. It was one of the few things he hadn't slated to get rid of. He set all the bags in the trunk of the Veyron, and slid into the driver's side. "You look nice in almost all of those clothes, Pam. I can't wait to see you take them all off at some point."

He got onto the toll road and sped, of course, to his mansion home in Greenwich. It was next to the water, and was certainly not what one would call modest. He didn't particularly like it or how flashy it was, much preferring a smaller sized home, but it was what he'd gotten, and he wasn't going to complain. What he did do, however, was make sure each of the bedrooms were equipped with sun blinds that completely blocked the sun. State of the art, they said, and he hadn't had issue with them yet. Once they were parked, he grabbed the many bags and boxes from the back and walked up the marble staircase. "Welcome to Stepford. Don't eat the hired help. Our neighbors, however, are fair game."

He really, really didn't like the neighbors.

Pam would approve more if it had been her own car, and she knew that men seemed like their silly little cars about as much as anything else. And it totally screamed Erik, which was the only reason it amused her so much. She wondered if he'd named it yet, she thought with a small smirk on her face. She got into the car beside him, stretching out her long legs in front of her. Only her eyes turned towards him and that awful pick up line of his. "The only way you will be doin that, is if you buy me a lot of expensive underwear to put on underneath them."

The new home wasn't too bad, it kind of reminded her of the one she had as a human, if she could remember that far back. But she did like living in luxury if she could. Though too much space meant too many places for people to hide, but she trusted Erik to take care of all of that. She got out of the car, gazing up at the house and took it all in. "I'll eat the help if they mess with my clothes," was all she said.

Oh goodie, they had neighbors. Their nearest neighbors used to be miles away.

Their current nearest neighbors were a quarter mile away and in their own mansion, but still managed to come over and try to be social with him once already. He mentally named them Boopsy and Sweet Tits. They were a rather eccentric lesbian couple who ran one of the yacht clubs in town and were crestfallen when they heard he was selling his own. He sighed and brought the bags upstairs. "Yes, you'll get your lingerie once we can get to a shop in time before they close. For now, I suppose you'll have to deal with the selection I already got for you." He set the bags in front of the walk in closet, and leaned against the wall, waiting for her to look for herself.

Apparently, he'd already done some shopping for her, himself. Inside the closet was plenty of the latest fashions from the latest labels, and yes, dozens of shoes that he thought screamed "Pam" when he saw them.

"Like I said. I got bored without you bitching at me constantly, so I had to fill my time somehow. And I knew you'd be so angry if you didn't come home to a nearly full wardrobe." He knew how to take care of his Pam, how to pamper her, but on the other hand, he didn't tell her the good news.

"And there's one more thing I've acquired. Something I know will work for you, though as old as I am, I doubt it will be entirely useful for me." He pulled a chain off his neck, and presented her with a necklace. It was quaint, perhaps a bit old fashioned, but the cameo pendant had a secret hidden away behind it - a talisman that protected vampires from the sun. "This is more a gift from Calliope than from me."

Pam would look forward to meeting the neighbors and then mocking them and eventually biting them. Lesbians tasted better than the others she thought, but maybe that was just because. Generally a woman should have been annoyed that a man bought them lingerie, considering sizes and colors and all of that. But Pam hadn't changed body shape in a very long time, and he knew what color she liked. And she knew that he'd already got her something incredibly inappropriate just to see the look on her face. "How very generous of you," she mocked. But generally she knew that he knew what to get. Weird, but true.

She reached up and patted his face, "You poor thing, all bored without me. Whatever would you do if I hadn't shown up?" Probably waited a couple of weeks and then found some new thing and hoped that she never showed up. But still. "You know me so well." Yeah she would have bitched him out if there hadn't been clothes and a place to put them.

The look on her face when he handed her the necklace was a look of confusion but curiosity. She gazed at it for a moment before taking it into her hands. "The new girl got me a necklace? How lovely." She was starting to like her already. She ran her fingers over it and then turned around so that he could put it on her, holding her hair to the side. "What does it do?"

He gave her a sarcastic smile when she patted his face, but went along to put the necklace on her, smoothing its chain out along her collarbone and the back of her neck, "It's a ward against the sun. I wore it only through yesterday and today. It seems to work well enough, but you know how much I trust magic. I woke up early and she gave it to me. I got to watch the sun set, for once." He wasn't particularly thrilled with it, it was far too strange and alien for him. He hadn't seen the sun in all its glory without being in incredible amounts of pain for a little over a thousand years, so the novelty was lost on him.

"But it's more for your protection, than for hapless folly. But on that note, there are those who can go out in the day, here. I find them dull and more human than vampire. The youngest one, I want to dangle off the roof of a very high building by his ankle to see if he knows how to fly."

For once in her life, Pam actually looked a little surprised. A ward against the sun. She'd get to see the sun and walk out in it? "This little thing does all that?" she toyed with the pendant on the end of it. He might not trust magic all that much, but she didn't see why it wouldn't work. After all, she had a witch for a girlfriend once. "It is quite lovely." There was no mistaking that of course but still. Her eyes flickered back up towards him. "Ones that go out in the light without a pendant? Were they the subject of incest perhaps? Some kind of retardation?" Like Bubba maybe.

She toyed with the necklace again before putting her hands down. "Thank you." For once in her life she could say thank you.

[info]erikbloodred

Erik moved around her to watch her toy with the pendant and see her expression. "She gave it to me, but I find that you'd be more happy with it, since you're younger, you still remember the sun. But to hear you say 'thank you', that's something I never thought I'd hear tonight. Now will you forgive me for being gone for four days without a word, and hiring a woman without your permission?" He put the crook of his forefinger under her chin and gave her a smile that was only given to anyone in earnest, and very rarely. "Tomorrow, we'll have a lot to take care of, but tonight is all yours. And I'm not trying to suck up. I already did that with the shopping spree."

As rare as it was for Erik to show any emotion that wasn't deadpan sarcasm, he was honestly and deeply pleased that Pam had shown up. He loved her, yes, but not in the way a husband would love their wife. That much showed through - they only ever sassed each other in public, and rarely took to the same bed in private. But the way one would love their own left hand. Without it, he was simply not as effective in any possible definition of the word. He kissed her forehead and then nudged her, a bit roughly. "Come and see the view from the back deck. We've got our own slice of ocean."

Ah, Erik and his ocean. He never particularly liked Shreveport - even though it was near water, it wasn't ocean. This was more up to speed for him.

That was just like a man to pawn off jewelry onto some other woman when another woman gave it to them and without even asking. But she ignored it, and instead raised her eyebrows at him. "I suppose," she muttered under her breath when he lifted her chin up to look at him. It was only because he was actually smiling at her, damn him. She just supposed she couldn't stay mad at him for too long, the bastard. "Good to know," she replied heavy with sarcasm just because she could and because they had been far too nice in those few seconds.

She knew that he was glad she'd shown up, but it was all too fun to poke at him when she could. Though they might not love each other in that way, they acted like husband and wife which was kind of disgusting. Or at least she'd say that. With a grunt of dissatisfaction at being kissed on the head like some dog and then being pushed over, she glared but moved back towards the back deck so she could see what he was talking about. "The ocean? My my.."

Pushing open the door, she went out and stared out at the ocean. "It smells different."

"Yes, it smells like the ocean. It doesn't smell like swamp. I would think you'd prefer it." Rolling his eyes, he leaned against the railing and raised a brow. "But something tells me you wouldn't be happy, no matter where we ended up." Erik was teasing faintly, but there was a grain of truth to it. "We could move back to Shreveport, if that pleased you, but I'd figure you'd prefer being closer to the fashion trends and things to do, humans to kill discreetly. I prefer it."

He turned to her and nearly smirked. "You'll enjoy it here. Give it a week and you'll refuse to go back, even if I insisted."

"I do prefer it, I just said it smells different. I didn't say it smells badly," she mumbled under her breath with a sigh. She glanced over at him out of the corner of her eye. Okay maybe there was a bit of truth to that statement but really. "No no, this is fine. It just takes some getting used to. I'm used to a lot of things but being sucked up into a giant tornado and put on an alternate dimension isn't one of them." He might be used to all sorts of things and nothing phased him, but he was older than dirt. "I'm glad to be away from the hicks, that's for certain.."

Just smirking at him, Pam went over to the ledge and leaned up against it, not even minding that it might dirty her clothes. "I'm sure it will be just fine."

The ledge was clean, oddly enough. The cleaning crew did a thorough job inside the house and out. Erik slipped a bit closer to Pam, "You could find a pretty young thing to corrupt and possibly get all that sand out of your vagina." He raised a brow, getting a cocky little grin at that. "And I might find myself a little toy of my own. One of the waiters at the club is incredibly promising."

Well if he was looking to push her buttons, then he would have found the perfect one. And to think the sentence had started out so promising with corruption and all of that. And then he had to go and ruin it. She shoved him a bit harder than playfully this time. "Screw whomever you'd like, you leave the sand and my vagina out of it," she warned, clearly not playing this time.

Erik rocked back with the shove, and in his mind it was precisely the right time to play. He lifted her easily and pinned her against the wall without being overly rough, just forceful. "I'd rather not leave you out of anything I had in mind, your vagina included," He muttered lowly, running his hand through her hair. "Think of it as payback for hitting me when I know what I'm doing. When have I ever not known exactly what I was doing?"

Honestly Pam was expecting the retaliation this time, since as old as he was, she thought Erik was kind of predictable in that sense, but then she'd known him a lot longer than most other people. When her back hit the wall with a thud, she smirked at him, contemplating shoving her pumps into some place unpleasant. "You deserved being hit, and you liked it." She reached out and gripped his arms, though not to throw him off or anything, just so that she had a hold of him. "Just because you know what you're doing, doesn't mean you shouldn't be punished from time to time."

"Is that so? Are you suggesting you're the one to give that punishment, Pam?" He bared his fangs, grinning coldly as he let his lips get dangerously close to hers. "Are you presuming you can?"

He'd said the same thing in endless variation over their long time of knowing each other. It was true that he liked it when she hit him, but he wouldn't say anything to that.

Like she was going to back down. There was no way that she could, or even wanted to. She stared up into his eyes, a scowl on her face. "No one else should have that privilege but me. I'm the one that has to put up with you all of the time."

Calling her punishment skills into question was something else all together though. Finally she dug her pointed heel into his leg and spun them around so that he was pressed up against the wall. "You already know the answer to that question, Erik."

He snapped his teeth together and growled, before chuckling low in the back of his throat. "And no worse for the wear, through the tornado." He looked into Pam's eyes with a mixture of anger and persuasion. He wanted her to go on. But he know when it wasn't time to say or do anything to give her any more reason to be more than this aggressive. He already said that this was her night, and he wasn't about to turn face on that.

Oh if only he knew the real troubles that she went through in that damn tornado. He probably came through with his hair in perfect place and his clothes all nice and neat too. Bastard. "It takes more than a little tornado and disheveling to take my guard down. You should know that." And really she was just looking for an excuse to be aggressive with him.

Slightly struggling against her hold, he murmured darkly against her jaw, "I'm sure my princess Pam's got a whole lot more to get out than just a little hair ruffle. There's plenty of time," He knew that would get her going again. Erik knew that pet names would always get her upset.

Princess? Princess?! He got another shove against the wall, mostly with the back of his head and a growl under Pam's breath for that one. "If you call me princess again, I will eviscerate your insides." She warned, and she totally wasn't kidding.
