Who: Spencer Shay, Soren Skwigelf, and Sable Skwigelf.
What: attack of the double essers Rescuing Spencer from his arrival
Where: Downtown London.
When: Nowish.
Warnings: None foreseen.

Spencer was a generally excitable guy, but maintained a rational head. Generally. Sure, he'd just been flown in via vortex to a reality that was entirely different, and sure, he was worried about Carly. He already had put together a contingency plan if he were to drop off the face of the earth, allowing Carly to stay with Freddie's mom for a week, before having to call their grandpa to come get her. Thank goodness, it was summer vacation, or else this would have been awfully awkward for everyone.

As it was, though, Spencer was pretty baffled. He'd never been to London before, and although he'd always wanted to go on vacation or something, this was not exactly how he figured it'd go. He sat down on a bench, setting the two smoothies and the sprite down beside him, and slurped his own as he looked through his wallet. His tie got in the way, so he tugged it off, and started reading through all the info he could find in it. Apparently, he'd replaced exactly what he didn't want to be - a lawyer.

Waiting wasn't all that bad. It gave him time to whine to himself about how dumb this all seemed. He tossed his suit jacket over to a homeless guy (Who probably needed a suit jacket like a fish needed a bicycle) and ran his hand through his hair. "Well, this is pleasant," thought Spencer out loud, "all I need now is something else to freak out about."

Soren had recruited his wife into helping the new arrival get situated, knowing she was good in a crisis. Granted, new arrivals weren't really crises to the Skwigelfs, but it was likely to be a crisis to the poor guy that had gotten dumped there.

With Arthur on his leash and Dog ending up in Soren's arms (which was how the animal preferred his "walks" anyway), Soren and sable walked up to the cross-streets. Soren smiled at the man looking utterly lost and confused with smoothies on either side of him. "Hi, I'm Soren." He knew his accent would give him away as a not-London native, but hoped the guy wouldn't be too weirded out by it. "We were talking before?"

Sable is right beside Soren with Arthur. She's glad to be out -- she likes summer, and has spent entirely too much time cooped up lately. She waves cheerfully to Spencer once Soren speaks to him. "Hello! I'm Sable." Also clearly not native to this country. "Did Soren tell you how to figure out who you are and everything?"

Spencer nodded and stood, offering his hand to Soren first, then Sable. "Spencer Shay, nice to meet you two. You're not from around here either, then, huh?" He said, offering the two untouched smoothies to them, giving the pineapple banana to Sable and the strawberry chocolate to Soren, before crouching down and scruffing Arthur's ears. "Yeah, I learned about the whole wallet thing from that website. I replaced a lawyer, which is the worst possible thing for me. I look bad in suits, and I studied law a few years ago, but dropped out so I could pursue my artistic endeavors and raise my kid sister."

He shrugged one shoulder and stood back up. "So uh, where's this address?" He asked, sliding up beside Sable and showing her the address on his photo ID.

"I'm from Sweden, and Sable's not exactly a Londoner herself." He chuckled and kissed his wife on the cheek. "Sable's a citizen of the world. Oh, and my wife. It's uh. Why I brought her." Soren shook his head, boggling at his manners. Dog wiggled a little, wanting to be scritched too, and Soren murmured soothing words to him in Swedish while delicately kissing the top of the half-blind animal's head.

He looked to Sable for knowledge on the address while sipping his smoothie, knowing full well that he was bad with directions. "You don't have to stay a lawyer. Just because you replaced one doesn't mean you're stuck there. I replaced a hack magazine writer, and I uh. Well, I still do that, but I branched out."

Sable thanks him for the smoothie and takes the card while Spencer scritches Arthur, who wiggles and sniffs and licks at his hand.

"Yeah, I think I know where this is. It's near my uncle's house. And our new place, actually." She hands the card back and sips the smoothie. "Soren's right about not staying what you are now. My dad was a butler when he fell into the world. That didn't last ONE DAY."

Dog got cuddles too, while Sable pondered, and a hearty "Yarr, pirate dog!" from Spencer, who smiled wryly. "Well, good, because I don't like lawyering. Lawyers are really stiff and their suits are really itchy and uncomfortable. Being an artist, I can just slum it with jeans and a shirt or two." He slid the card back into his wallet and his wallet into his pocket. "Is it in walking distance? And what do you all do now, I mean, now that you're all here? You said you actually were born here, if I remember correctly," he pointed at Soren, "And you... yeah, I haven't gotten your story at all other than you're married to a very tall Swedish guy." In fact, Spencer was all of about 5'11", which was tall compared to most of the people that were usually in his house, but still, shorter than the Swedish writer beside him.

"Want me to help walk the dogs? I'm very good at leashes."

Soren chuckled and scratched the back of his head. "We can walk, sure. And um. Yeah, I was born here. A few months ago. I'm actually from 2029, give or take a few months." He blushed a little and nodded at Spencer's suggestion of walking the dogs. "Arthur's good at actually walking, but Dog likes being carried when he's outside. I think I spoiled him too much." As if to illustrate the fact, he lightly nibbled one of Dog's ears, earning himself a delighted facelicking.

"Sable's actually even more interesting than I am."

"I don't know if I'm THAT much more interesting. You didn't tell him about how your dad is the most famous guitar player in the world and used to live in a giant castle shaped like a dragon." She hands Spencer the leash, since Arthur seems to like him, and walks next to Soren with her smoothie. "I'm from the future, too. I grew up in America. My mom was a roadie. I never lived anywhere longer than two months until I got here, even while I was in school. I also never met my dad until I got here. He's a musician, too... actually lived with Soren's dad for a long time. Anyway, now I own a bookshop and mostly run it from home right now, just because... I've kind of been needed there more."

"Musician's kids, huh? That's pretty awesome," Spencer nodded, holding on to the leash and letting the dog and two people lead him to what was supposedly his new home. "I'm from Seattle, my dad's in the Navy, so I've been all over the place at one point or another. Mom died when Carly was about five, so I've been taking care of her on top of it. I make good scratch from it. So wait, Soren? Your dad's Eddie Van Halen?" He grinned a bit, knowing that wasn't the case.

"I didn't know that he had a castle shaped like a dragon."

Soren chuckled and stuck his tongue out at Sable. "I didn't tell him that because he might not be from a world Pappa's from. Pappa was famous there. Here too, I guess, but still." He shrugged at Spencer, taking a sip of his drink and listening to Spencer talk.

"Wow, that's a lot of responsibility. Still, you're an artist? That's really awesome. The world - any world can always use more of those. And nope, not Eddie, though I think Pappa likes him. He's Skwisgaar Skwigelf. You're not a metal fan, are you?" Soren left out the part where he played music as well, not really liking to appear braggarty.

"Aww, you've got a little sister? That's so cute. Actually in this world, because everyone timejumps, both Soren and my cousin Cass are babies too, and Cass's wife Henn is I think going to be born eventually. My mom is having another baby, we're all kind of wondering whether it'll be me or not." She suspects not, but it's funny to think about. She doesn't try to explain the Wolfpack in more complexity just now, the world is hard enough without trying to sort out your neighbors' family ties when they can't even sort them out themselves a lot of the time.

"Uncle Teague is an artist. I paint a little, just for fun, but Teague is one for real, he has gallery exhibits and everything. Maybe you two could meet, I bet he could introduce you to some people around here. What kind of art do you do?"

"I'm more into the mainstream rock, actually. Metal's way too Grr for me, and not enough sappy lyrical 'oh look I'm a tough guy, but I cry' stuff. I haven't heard of your dad, so it must be a different world." Turning his attention back to Sable, Spencer shook his head, "Oh, I can't paint, well, not like painters, but I sculpt and build things. I was working on this giant wall of tiny speakers, like headphone speakers, all wired up. Because if one of those little things can produce small sound, a giant wall of them, like 800 of them, can make a big noise. I was calling it Collective Voice. You know, because one voice isn't big enough to be heard over a large crowd, but when you've got hundreds of others saying the same thing, it has more of an impact."

He shrugged and looked around him. London was completely different than he expected, and utterly different from Seattle. He missed the Pacific already.

"I like a little of everything, so that's why I think I taught myself wussy instruments. Though I can play more metal songs on the cello than any sensible person should, really." Soren mused to himself aloud before smiling at Dog's wiggling and listening to Spencer's sculpture. It seemed like a really awesome idea, and he smiled to himself, nodding. "That sounds really cool."

He looked at Spencer and sighed, feeling bad for him immediately. It would've been terrible for anyone to end up in a new place, far from home, and separated from family. He only hoped that Spencer's apartment was nice.

"That DOES sound cool," she agrees. "And you know, if you like music like that, I think you should meet my dad. He plays sort of rock-ballad stuff... when he plays. It's been a while. Getting him working again might actually do him some good, you think, Soren?" She looks thoughtful for a moment. "And I still think you ought to meet my uncle. Even if you don't paint, he must know someone who can help show you around to art folks in this world. And if you really need work, I can hire you to do some stuff for my shop."

"I love books! I would totally rock out at putting them places and help people. I'm not exactly trustworthy with much more than that, though. I don't know, I'm a walking magnet for small disasters. I'm surprised something hasn't caught fire yet since I got here." He chuckled and looked up at the duplex home that read the same address as the one on his license. "Well, this is certainly homey. Look! A shrubbery, how cute!" He went to the door and unlocked it, nudging his way in to find a place entirely unlike his home, and very much what he figured a stuffy lawyer would have as a dwelling. "Come on in, guys. This is depressingly awesome-free. There needs to be more awesome. This place lacks nifty."

Soren couldn't help laughing at the starting fires crack. "I'm pretty good at that too," he murmured, not wanting to go into it more. He didn't want to overwhelm the guy on his first day in, especially if he was one of the people that came from a magic-free world.

Moving into the room, he sniffed the air. "It smells clean, at least." He looked at Dog and set him down. "That means no piddling, though. Hey, at least you have a chance to redecorate, right?"

"Actually, I meant you could make some art for my shop. Then you have something to stick on a resume and have pictures of if someone needs it. And if you do sculpture, my partner Judah has TONS of materials. Literally, tons. He's uh... kind of a sculptor too, you might say."

One step at a time, for the newbie. They'll get to the crazy golem-making messiah later.

She grins at Spencer's description of the place. "Agreed. Soren, don't we need to do some shopping for our new place? Maybe we can take Spencer along to look for stuff. And show him Sneaky's shop..."

"Sneaky? Is this guy a weasel or fox or something?" Spencer joked and looked around, before going to the fridge to put the sprite in. Inside, he found lots of various food he generally would wrinkle his nose at, but at that point, he was just happy there was food at all. He looked across at them from the bar that separated kitchen from living room and smiled faintly, still looking lost as ever. "I'd love to go, if you guys don't mind. I'm feeling like shopping around for some supplies anyway. Chances are, this guy I replaced probably didn't have my usual closet full of random crap. So yeah. Hey, you guys don't mind if I get your numbers or anything, right? I really should make some contacts around here, just in case I need to ask stupid newbie questions."
