After making sure Jack and Ennis knew she was heading out for a while and that she'd let herself in when she got back, Alma showered, changed and put on a little makeup (very rare for her) so as not to be as obviously withdrawn from society as she really was. Pinning the sides of her hair back with a pretty clip she slipped out of the house (especially avoiding Bobby) and made her way to the Portkey.

She didn't use them often, hadn't yet in fact, but she arrived in New York just fine, glancing around to get a hold on her bearings and hopefully spot Mark.

	Mark was waiting patiently at the end of the alley where the portkey dropped off, glancing in when he heard the commotion of Alma dropping in. Approaching her casually, Mark gave a smile and a small wave. "Alma, I presume?" The hand that was waving extended, with a rose suddenly appearing in it; one of the benefits of having a stage magician as an 'uncle'. (Reply to this) (Thread)

	Alma was mildly started at first but soon returned his smile. Her hands fiddled around a moment before she took the rose. "Yeah, y'must be Mark." Well, that was obvious. Smooth one, Junior. 	"'s very impressive." She said with a small laugh. "An' sweet, y'certainly didn't have to." It was definitely helping to knock her nerves away, she took a glance around. "So um, lead the way?" He watched her twirl the rose between her hands, smirking just slightly; score one for Ray's romantic training. For once, though, Mark wasn't just out for trying to 'get the girl'. He took her complaints about men as a challenge of sorts, and Mark took it upon himself to dispell her thoughts. And if he met a friend in the process, so be it.

Mark nodded thoughtfully, at her words, listening as intently as he could while navigating the pedestrian traffic of the downtown city block. "It gets easier after you do ti a few times. I haven't been on a plane since arriving here,"

	Mark smiled as she cut through the crap; he could respect that. A shoulder shrugged again, his eyes going towards the skyline as he answered. "I like coffee, I like interesting company, and I don't have homework to do or sisters to be watching, for once in my life. What can I say, I'm a creature of opportunity." She chuckled softly at that, nodding in understanding. "I'm interestin' company? That's a first, gotta hand y'that, Mark." And it all sort of clicked there. The pieces of the puzzle fell into place and she started to laugh at herself for not realizing sooner.

"Beg pardon, I aint . .I aint laughin' at you." She took a moment to catch her breath, shook her head again. "Reina and Sofia, they're y'sisters. Them are my Drew's Valentines."

Mark's brows furrowed for a second, before he grinned as well, nodding. "Okay. I thought the name sounded familiar. Yeah. Figures Dad'd find someone else to pawn the girls off on." Smiling a little at the irony, Mark continued on, trying not to feel awkward over the development. "For what it's worth, the girls love him. I've heard nothing but positive things. Even if it makes the Dads worry,"

He gave her an odd look, mouth quirking into a lopsided smile. "I... didn't, really. I mean, they were left on Greg and Ray's doorstep early... December. They were eleven months old, then. On their birthday, they jumped from one year old to four years old, and.. that was it. They're step-sisters, so that helps some of the strange. But the rest is just... this place. I don't know."

	Alma ordered whatever she could read off the menu (back home coffee was black, regular, or considered similar to but not quite coffee otherwise) and picked their drinks up while he paid, handing him his when he had, gesturing for him to pick a table as she took a sip. 	He led her over to a nice little table in one corner, away from the window to keep them from the cold. Mark subtly nudged her chair out, but didn't pull it out all the way for her, not wanting to lay it on too thick.
