The silence was a bit weird, but she reasoned maybe that he couldn't talk, or was in shock perhaps - it didn't matter, there were other ways to communicate once inside the house, and she could get him all squared away. It felt good, really, to be able to help someone else new to the whole experience - she still had moments of uncertainty about the whole thing, but explaining it to a new person helped her as well.
She walked with him up to the house and ushered him into the foyer, shutting the door behind them. "If you want to go into the next room and have a seat, I can get you a drink..."
She motioned to the living room with a smile, then turned her back to him as she took the bag she carried off her shoulder, dropping her keys and purse onto the hallway table.
