Who: Ares
What: Deciding on where to go next.
Where: Poland for a hot second, then the Czech Republic
When: Yesterday
Warnings: Killing.
The encounter with Kakia simply made the rage inside burn hotter then before. There was no stopping him now. Bullets hit him, even drew some ichor, yet he kept going. Village after village disappeared in flames as he moved through Poland and then the Czech Republic. Steering clear of the larger cities, he claimed only the smaller ones. Simply not in the mood to deal with artillery at the moment. He was going for the easy kill. The most satisfaction for the least effort.
Standing upon a hill watching the last remaining survivors of his latest massacre scream in pain from afar, Ares spotted a lone figure running away from the scene of the crime. It only took a second for him to appear in front of the fleeing man.
"You run from battle?" He sniffed the air around the twenty some odd year old boy. "You reek of coward."
At the sight of the huge god, the boy backed away in terror.
"No. No. I...I...I..." Not watching where he was going, he tripped over a tree root and fell backwards onto the ground.
"You weren't what? Fleeing like a child? Deserting your fellow warriors as they lie dying?" Taking one step forward, he placed his foot on the boy's calf, enjoying the sound of the femur snapping in two. The accompanied howl of pain made his mouth turn up in a feral grin. "What were you doing, coward? Trying to save your own selfish life?"
Sobs echoed off the trees and stones, but between them Ares caught the words "Warning." "Germany." And "Save us." Able to piece together the information, Ares laughed until his sides hurt. The young man watched in awe as the god basically doubled over in mirth.
"You think...you think...Germany will SAVE YOU? A country that couldn't fight their way free for centuries?" He picked up the young man by the throat and held him eye to eye. "You think they will save your village? Your family? They are already dead. They died screaming my name. As your entire country will by the time I am done with it."
A voice soft and filled with terror spoke suddenly, but filled with conviction.
"No, but they will kill you."
Ares' eyes hardened at those words. It only took a simple twist of his hand and the life in the boy's eyes faded.
"Not in time to save you." The body made no sound as it fell to the ground, but Ares wasn't there to see it. He'd found his next destination.
