"The left is more complicated. It's your shifter, how you go through your gears. The hand-clutch unlocks the gears from the engine, to just spin, as you smoothly push down to pop to the next gear, then reconnect the drive to engine. The pattern is 1st the hardest but the most powerful, neutral, no gear just idling, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Don't worry, you'll practice until you can feel the difference." She pointed to a sticky note with the pattern written out. "Tip your toe forward and boot up to upshift and press down to downshift."
