Who: Alice Tsung, OTA
Where: Coney Island, New York
What: relaxing on the weekend

A side effect of learning sorcery was that it knocked one's metabolism out of sync. People didn't realize that magic ( or 'craft' as the girl Jaenelle called it) took energy and that the energy had to come from somewhere.

And so, Spring holidays found Alice taking a portkey to New York and re-visiting Coney Island. There was a novelty there that she had a weakness for..and it can't be denied (though she'd still try) that she loved the food they sold there.

She pulled out a few quid, changing it to dollars (keeping the money covered with her hands) before buying a corndog and coca cola. 'Real food before dessert.' She thought to herself with a smirk before eating, sitting on a bench, watching the people on the board walk.

Coney Island. Johnny couldn't get over that he'd at least been situated in the states, he'd kind of been worried he'd land himself in Honduras or India... though Jersey might have sucked, too.

He had an ice cream cone in one hand and cotton candy in the other, wandering around alone but not really on purpose. He'd tried to hit on a couple of girls but mostly got 'Buzz off old man' and 'Ew, don't think so, jerkface'. He'd really taken for granted how much of his charm was from fame. It was a pretty unwelcome lesson.

At least the food was good and no sea birds had landed a hit yet.

She was near finishing off the corndog when she felt compelled to look in the direction of this one man trying to talk to a group of girls and was rejected. Alice had to admit he wasn't that bad looking, but there was something else, his soul made her feel..both wary and curious at the same time. but why? She'd seen a lot of human mortals in the palace in Outworld, but she'd never seen him.

So it was against his personal rule but the redhead was smoking. Johnny caught her in passing and turned to watch, trying to push aside the kid holding her hand in his mind. He didn't see a wedding ring so she was fair game, right?

"Hey. I didn't want to be nosey, but I have this cotton candy I got and the carnival food and me aren't agreeing... You want it for the kid?" he asked the woman, her son obviously interested but she looked at him strangely a minute.

Oh, right. Johnny smiled wide and went for his card, blinking when she seemed to startle and took a step back, moving an arm around her son. Johnny chuckled and shook his head quickly.

"No, no, it's okay. I was getting my card. I realized I guess that was weird. I'm Johnny Cage. I love kids, work with kids actually... You live around here?" he asked, trying to talk her up and trying not to come off really weird but failing pretty bad, even if he had a charming smile.

She was close enough to hear his name, a bell going off in her head. This was Johnny Cage, one of the chosen warriors that fought with momma before the invasion. The por-vortex must've replaced him in a different occupation, didn't momma say he was a movie actor or something?

Her eyes narrowed as she studied him from where she sat.He didn't look like a warrior, but that wasn't to say he wasn't skilled and his soul strong.

He'd bombed out bad. Not at first, the woman had actually warmed up to him after a minute but it was when he opened his mouth and asked her out.

She had a boyfriend, apparently. Better yet? He'd just caught up to them and stood nearly a foot taller than Cage did, covered in tattoos, pierced, bald. Looked like a bouncer. The redhead smiled at him and he dropped his heavy hands on Johnny's shoulders, only when he squeezed and started to jerk him back, Cage shifted his weight some in preparation.

"Hey-hey, I didn't know, I'm sorry. Can't we talk about this?" Johnny said but the bruiser spun him around and took a swing. It wasn't the brightest move as Cage ducked it easily and swept the giant's legs out from under him, then reflexively grabbed for the guy's arms so he wouldn't hurt himself on the way down. He figured that was enough but the big guy shoved him off balance and dove at him again.

It was better then a fight in the arena, particularly because the audience would've expected the larger man to win.

She'd finished the corndog long time ago, opened can of cola in hand. She did set it aside next to her, clapping softly as she watched the 'fight' a small grin on her face.

Johnny couldn't really help it. He should have just... dodged, not encouraged the guy, but suddenly he had an audience and he remembered how damn much he loved being a star...

The fight didn't last much longer, either. Some thug versus a tournament class, no, CHOSEN warrior of the human race? Johnny took him down fairly civilly though, catching him in a sort of submission hold until the guy had nearly passed out, then letting him go and letting him drop to his knees to fight for air, his girlfriend all over him though he kid was just watching Johnny in awe.

That was when he noticed the pretty asian girl watching and smiled at her, offering a 'coy' shrug.

"You saw that? It was nothing," he swore, rolling a shoulder.

She kept the smile, one of amusement or expectation, it was hard to tell. He was exactly like how momma described him, but she still couldn't get over the bristly feeling she got around him.

"You're Johnny Cage, from the forum." She bluntly stated.

Johnny was taken aback a minute but then smiled.

"Yeah, that's me. You're Alice?" he asked. It wouldn't have been a normal assumption but she was Asian and Tsung was Asian and she knew his name and... Well, a monkey could have sorted that one out.

She nodded. "Got it in one. You fit how momma described you."

By all accounts, she should feel strange talking to this man, an enemy of her father, but a comrade of her mother. But didn't momma and her father start off as enemies as well, they respected eachother now which, considering Shang Tsung, was saying something.

She didn't care though, why should she, when the warrior she was talking to was long dead in her world.

Johnny suddenly felt pretty on spot, which was kind of weird for him. He hadn't even felt nervous around Sonya but this was different. This was her kid, Shang Tsung didn't even enter into it. You didn't do anything stupid to someone's daughter, he'd about had his ass handed to him enough times as a young man to know that one.

"What're you doing all the way out here? Sonya said you're out in Florida going to school- One of those portkey things, right?"

Stupid.

She could sense his nervousness, but not the reason. Had he visited Sonya since being here? She never mentioned her surname, so if he knew who her father was it was because her mother said so and that that meant he must've seen her.The thought made her stiffen in warning.

Alice kept her expression pleasant, not having been raised in Outworld for nothing. "I go to school in London, not Florida. And yes, I use the portkeys."

She didn't have the power yet to create portals, maybe sometime in the near future, but not currently

"Oh. London. Yeah, sorry. I knew that," Johnny insisted, looking sort of up and down the boardwalk and leaning more and more over his knees. Wow. He wasn't even this nervous at his first awards ceremony.

"I'm kind of new," he explained, looking at Alice and offering a flirtatious smile, "I visited your mom the other day, just to catch up. It was kind of nice."

That last comment earned him a glare. "Really.." She couldn't explain why, he seemed like a nice guy, albeit a flirt, but momma would never fall for him, she knew that. He still got the warning glare.

Danger, Will Robinson, Danger. She may be Sonya's kid, but she was also Tsung's child as well.

Maybe that hadn't been the best idea. Johnny noted the glare and pressed his lips together in a thin line. Tough crowd around there.

"So how's London? I visited a few times but it was usually just hotel after hotel, awards ceremony here, interview there. Never really have time to enjoy a place, you know, handlers and..."

He just let it trail off at that, remembering suddenly how alien and strange things were on Tsung's island and thinking this girl was half space alien or something, maybe he should keep that in mind.

"What're you in school for?"

It was a long shot but he had to take it.

She smiled, thinking her father would be proud of her. He could always intimidate with a glare.

"It's very close to secondary school..high school I think it used to be called. Some students live at home but there are accommodations for students to live on campus. The classes are varied and there are several academic levels."

"I like it. It's relatively safer and there's a lot of history to the place." She never really cared for history in the past, but for some reason being in the actual location made it more interesting.

Oh. OH. She was younger than he thought. Right, okay. Double duty then on the good behavior, though he was probably more afraid of Sonya than the authorities, heh.

"That's cool. Did you... show up here from somewhere else, or?" he asked, feeling kind of stupid. It wasn't a big habit of his to talk to females he wasn't intent on asking out. Well, not since middle school anyways.

She nodded.

"A week into Survival School..I'm never taking hot showers for granted again." She didn't know how anyone could, after over a week in the wastelands. Or junkfood..as foolish as it was, it was one of the things she liked about this realm.

Especially now when a toffee apple started to seem really good right about now.

Johnny nodded himself and wrung his hands a bit, looking around for something viable to talk about but nothing was coming to him. He figured it probably meant it was time he make his escape, but how to do it without seeming like a dick...

"I can't go a week without a massage. A week without hot showers would end me," he joked a little and rubbed at his neck, then checked his watch, "Are you out here alone? No girlfriends or a boyfriend?"

That earned a laugh. "I believe that was the intention. Momma believed that I would appreciate my position and luxuries if I was forced to make do without them for a period of time, father said that I was fortunate it was the Wastelands and not the cobalt mines. Either way, it worked." That last statement was said with a little more seriousness.

She tilted her head a little. "You're joking right, back home my schedule's too full to really gain friends let alone a boyfriend. Even so most of the higher lords don't think it's fitting that their children..hang out-that's the term used, right..with someone of such a high rank."

"I do have friends here, or atleast I could consider her a friend. A young vampire named Johanna, she's shown me around this realm on several occasions." She saw no reason why she couldn't announce such facts with him, since surely he must be familiar with beings other than mortal humans.

Johnny hadn't met any vampires, fairies, gods, or whatever else were floating around but he wasn't going to argue or discount it because, seriously, he'd seen four armed guys, undead ninjas, immortal princesses and everything else. After that you just accepted that weird shit happened.

"Right. Yeah, I went to private school so I know what you mean," he offered, scratching at his ear as a question came to mind. He wondered if it was a bad idea to ask it though.

"Hey, can I ask you a question? About your mom and dad, mean, just as a friend. They happy together? He treat her right?"

"Oh, I was taught by tutors in my quarters, not in an actual school building. The only lessons I took with other students were those involving combat skills."

S'what usually happened when your father was a paranoid emperor.

Her eyes narrowed, not from hostility, but the way when one's asked a rather obvious question. "She is his Queen, and head of his armies, of course he treats her right. I suppose they're happy together, he appreciates her, I can tell and they behave honorably towards eachother."

That did it, she was getting a toffee apple, but she didn't quiet feel like getting up yet, not when talking with someone who knew her momma before she was born.

Alice pulled out some dollars and change, looking around a moment before closing the money in her fist. When she opened it, a toffee covered apple on a stick appeared in her hands. She took a large bite.
