Looking only slightly more disheveled and slightly less fabulous than normal, Rose turned in her chair and smiled. Surprise visits from Gar were commonplace these days and the tiny little tap on her window was familiar enough to keep her from starting. With little hesitation, Rose pushed aside a large pile of books that was sitting in front of her and got to her feet.
After opening the window, she ran her fingers through her hair. "I hope," she said, a cool look on her face and warm undertones in her voice, "that you have a good reason for being here. I'm trying to catch up on homework after two weeks of being lazy." She crossed her arms over her chest and only just hid a little smirk. Rose lived in a realm where being mean to the boys you liked was just standard operating procedure.
