"You don't say," Alexia said, taking the time to move the pillows back into place, making sure they were still scented faintly of spices and summer rainfalls, which made him smile. "Now all you've got to do is learn how to turn water into wine, and you've got yourself a religion." He stood and offered his hand, smiling faintly. "Pleased to meet you, Josie Marcham. Or is it Sophie? Or Merriam? What's in a name, anyway?" He kissed the back of her hand and led her to the couch. "Relax, I've just finished with my first photo shoot, I've got to change the film out, and reposition things. Do make yourself at home."
As he slipped away, he let a pack of cigarettes and a rather ornate lighter appear on the table before her. "Have a smoke, if you'd like. You deserve it, after bringing a rodent back to life. Harrowing work, I'm sure."
