Soren smiled happily when he heard how old Toki would be. His suspicion was confirmed, and he couldn't help but move to hug him. Belatedly, Soren knew what his father must have felt when Toki died - or something like it, maybe an inkling - and he couldn't help but tear up a little knowing his father would have that part of his life back. "You stay healthy for Pappa, you hear me?" Soren rarely spoke Swedish, and didn't even know if Toki knew the language, but he meant it. Standing up, he wiped his eyes and took some of the things he liked that he figured Toki could make. His was mostly sandwich things - bread, light spreads, sandwich meats. They had a few condiments in the cabin.
But Toki's enthusiasm at the cloudberries made him laugh. "I don't know how to make waffles, but I think there's a frozen kind. I know Mom made Pappa buy a toaster. And I just learned how to use one." That wasn't pride in his voice, nope.
