Everything that was happening now had been set into motion longer than almost anyone else would have thought. It wasn’t a matter of months now as Sylar was pretty certain that it had been over a year. The longest wait he had ever endured to take what he wanted. The ultimate game of cat and mouse that was about to evolve into something else entirely. The hunt had been more thrilling than even he could have imagined but it didn’t compare to what he was currently experiencing.
The truth was simple yet difficult to explain. Sylar, as much as he could, loved Elle. But someone that had the issues he did was incapable of true love. That much he had decided already. Elle was meant for more than he could give her yet he was too selfish to let her go. Love was a very relative word, when he thought about it. He had no comparison to make from his past. But this itch he felt for Veronica? It had to be scratched or it would drive him insane.
As he made his way to the apartment all thoughts of guilt were gone for the moment. It was replaced with a surge of adrenaline and a rush of excitement. Veronica was almost within reach now and there was nothing that could prevent the inevitable. Not anymore. This was the point of no return.
A small movement of his wrist and the door was forced open. Not a worthy demonstration of his powers. “Veronica,” the tone of his voice was low with a definite edge. “Do I need to come and find you?” A look of arrogance came across his features and let his long coat fall to the floor. “There’s nowhere you can hide.”
