Who: Pulse and Melisande
What: First Meeting and Exploring.
Where: Las Vegas
When: As Much of the weekend as they can spend...
Rating and Warnings: Adult Situations... expect smut.

Pulse smiled as he waited for Melisande at the airport. He was bouncy, and grinning, and people stared, but he did not care. She intrigued him, this lady from the East Coast, and he could not wait to see her. It had been awhile since he had a simple assignation with someone who felt like they understood the rules, without complications. And, well, this really kind of sounded like a good thing.

So he was there, dressed to the nines in a form fitting black suit that was cut extra close, and holding a red rose in one hand. He had booked dinner reservations, and a show, and hoped that they would enjoy both... though the show was negotiable.

He grinned as he watched the entrance from the debarking area and bounced in his shoes.

Melisande's entire weekend packing had fit into a single bag which she took as her carryon, so she was able to bypass all those who stood at the baggage carousel and waited for their property to descend. She walked smoothly, not in a rushed fashion but clearly with confidence.

One thing she was really rather enjoying about this new world was the completely different sense of fashion. For the travel, she wore a lady's business suit, the hem of the skirt above her knees, and she loved the freedom it gave to her legs as she moved. The fact that more than one person had stopped to simply watch her walk -- well, that was gravy.

She spotted Pulse, and smiled. This was going to be fun. He'd brought a flower, which indicated consideration; he was dressed well, so he cared what she thought of his appearance; and he was beaming a welcome. She was in for a good weekend, without question.

"It is Pulse, yes?" she asked, reaching him.

He smiled and bowed, a flourish, though not ostentatiously so.

"I am Pulse. Melisande, I presume?"

His admiration showed in his eyes as he glanced at her bag, then at her and presented the rose to her.

"How was your flight? And, care for me to casrry your bag?"

he did not quite bounce in his shoes, but it was close. She was gorgeous.

He wasn't too hard on the eyes either. She restrained any urge to bounce, however.

"The flight was very smooth. Thank you so much, this is lovely." She accepted the rose and traded her bag in one fluid motion. "The view from the plane as we landed was rather spectacular; I don't believe I've ever seen a desert before."

She took his arm as they started to make their way out of the terminal. "I am very interested to see this 'strip' I have heard so much about," she remarked, languidly. He could interpret that as he wished.

He took the bag and grinned at her words.

"It is a beautiful sight to see with the right company and preparations. One must be properly supplied with liquid, and with all the necessary items."

His words were whisper soft as he spoke and led her out toward where he had parked.

"I am sure I can accommodate your every desire. This is Vegas after all."

Half-entendre, half blunt, his words brought his grin back.

"There is the car."

He slipped her bag in the back and opened her door for her. It was a very comfortable car, with extras, including a glass of wine waiting for her, chilled, at her seat's side.

"Oh, how thoughtful," she remarked, insinuating herself into the seat and at once picking up the glass. "Just what I needed."

While Pulse moved around and got in on the driver's side, Melisande smelled the wine, then tilted her head back slightly and took a drink, closing her eyes as she did. She rolled the liquid around in her mouth, letting it coat her tongue, before finally swallowing.

"That's divine," she declared, opening her eyes and favoring him with a smile. "So, where are we going?"

He watched her, swallowing and grinning as he felt desire leap in him.

"You seemed someone who would like refined tastes, so I picked up some of the best they had at the hotel I am in."

He smiled softly at her.

"Dinner, and a show, if we get that far. If not, Dinner, and a more private show. Either way, you will see the Strip."

He grinned as eh started the car and sent them humming down the road.

The celebrated Las Vegas Strip isn't quite as impressive in daylight hours as it is at night, but by the time Pulse and Melisande reached it, the sun was setting and the lights were beginning to come on, revealing the splendor. Pulse drove slowly, letting her drink in the views of the Bellagio fountains, the Mirage volcano, and the gondoliers of the Venetian.

They pulled into the parking deck at the Paris Las Vegas, and from there, Pulse escorted Melisande to the restaurant on the main level, the Ah Sin. "Ah Sin? Is that a play on Sin City?" she asked. The maitre'd, however, quickly set them straight -- Ah Sin is an Asian restaurant, and the name is Cantonese for "always lucky."

They were seated at an intimate little table; the wine order was taken; and they actually had to make conversation for the first time. "So," Melisande began, swirling the water in her glass, "where are you from...originally?"

"All around, actually. I was born on an air force base and traveled from the get go. Now I travel still, and like it. It brings spice to life."

He grinned.

"Most places are the same, any more, and this place is a whole new world, and I like it. And the spices I can... apply to life. Some new, some favorites."

He didn't mention that he was a thief. That might just sour things.

Melisande had known one or two thieves in her time. They weren't always bad.

"It is indeed a whole new world," she said. She lowered her voice, wanting to ensure that her next words reached his ears and his alone. "What was your life like before you came here? Before you...arrived in this new world?"

He chuckled, rubbing his face.

"Actually, not far from what I do now. I was just a little less above the boards and a little more in the shadows, really. Back then, a lot less of what I did would be approved of by the more law abiding sorts."

His voice matched hers, quiet, and intense as he watched her eyes.

"I acquired things, even then, and reallocated them."

"I quite understand," she replied, nodding. "Except that mine is rather the opposite experience. My occupation was one which, in this world, would be considered criminal and abhorrent. It's a tremendous adjustment to make."

She offered a smile to the waiter who came to take their order, and tried not to be amused as he promptly dropped the pen from his shaky fingers. "I think the 'gilded lily' pork chops sound exquisite; I'll have those, please."

He nodded.

"I am glad to hear it. Most of the time, here, even, I spend sometime in each side of the world."

He nodded and read his menu again, then ordered and nodded to the man as he went.

"I think that many men here, tonight will be envious of the man who gets to share ...desert with you. You are a beautiful and sensual woman, Melisande. I anticipate sharing an interesting time with you."

Melisande gave a sweet, throaty laugh. "You're very kind, Pulse. I enjoy your company already. You can call me Meli, if you like; my full name is a bit of a mouthful at times."

She took another drink of water. "I rather miss my old life, which I must confess is part of why I placed the ad to which you responded so charmingly. My old job title was that of 'Companion.' I'm thinking that while it might be criminal for me to accept payment for being a companion in this world, the actual 'work' is hardly a crime." She fixed him with a sweetly mischievous gaze. "What we are doing, right now, I would in my old life have been paid extremely well to do. But the company is so pleasant that I won't miss the payment at all."

Still smiling, she unfolded her napkin and laid it across her knees. "So...tell me about the show that is supposed to follow the meal, in theory at least."

"Ah, but a mouthful can be fun..."

He grinned at her, tongue flicking over his lips. She was charming, and delightful, and he decided, then and there, that he would do his best to help her find a way to practice her old job.

"You know... on occasion, I find myself at dinners, or meetings, and sent to utter dullness by my company. I would, on such occasions, be willing to compensate you, in an undocumented fashion."

His words were low, simple for her.

He blushed at the last.

"But I do find your company most pleasant, beyond any business idea. Being around and with a woman of such ideas and looks is something that compels me."

He sipped water, then nodded.

"The show I would take you to is a simple murder mystery, well performed, well studied, with some special effects, upon a live stage."

"Flatterer." She smiled, however. "I'd be only too happy to be escorted by you to an event -- so long as it fits into my schedule. The individual I replaced in this world is a town mayor, of all things." More seriously, she added, "That's why I particularly wanted to meet people from far away, and meet in neutral localities. If the time should come that I am sent back to my own world, I wouldn't like the real mayor of the town to suffer difficulties because people caught wind of my...activities. If I remain here until the end of her term in office, I'll simply not exert myself for re-election and then I can do as I please, but until then I'm trying to keep up appearances."

The wine came, and she abandoned her water glass in favor of the vintage, which she pronounced excellent. "A murder mystery, you say? That sounds like it could be very entertaining. And if you've already purchased the tickets, I wouldn't want to put you out...it's not as if there's a time limit on dessert, after all..."

"That makes sense. And I can understand that."

He nodded.

"If you wish... desert with you will be most pleasant, but sometimes the... build up is almost as pleasant. When one considers all the many kinds of desert one can have, and how very luscious it is... thinking about it a little longer, desiring it a little more, well, that is a delight in and of itself."

"You're shameless." She laughed. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

The food came, and was even as marvelous as the menu's description had made it out to be. In between savoring the bites, Meli talked to him more about her life -- both current and previous -- and smiled at the continued shamelessness of his flattery.

The waiter appeared some while later, still looking a touch blushy and stammery when he glanced at Meli. "Will you two be having any dessert tonight?"

She glanced at Pulse, laughing with only her eyes. "Not until later."

"Hmmm. Mostly. About sex? And about me? Yes."

He smiled as they ate and talked.

Dinner passed and the question came, and he laughed inside with her.

"Ah, no, just the check, please."

he grinned at her as the waiter retreated.

"So... show?"

"Show," she agreed. "I've never seen a murder mystery play before; and you know I did come here to have a variety of experiences. I'll just go and powder my nose, and meet you right back here."

Still smiling, she rose and crossed the room to the lavatories. She lingered a moment at the mirror, touching up her makeup and smoothing her hair, before returning to her waiting escort. She slipped her hand into the crook of his elbow and gave his cheek the very lightest peck. "Ready?"

He smiled, and rose, paying for the food, and shaking his head. This woman was magnificent, and a good companion.

When she returned, he smiled to her.

"I am indeed. Come, our chariot awaits."

Which, as he led her outside, was literal.

A chariot, hired to carry them forth and with a bench for them to sit on, pulled up and he handed her up to it.

"To the show, man. To the show."

The driver tipped his Roman helm at Pulse and started the horses which led the chariot forth.

At the sight of the actual chariot, Meli couldn't help bursting into a peal of delighted laughter. "You really did 'pull out all the stops' as they say, didn't you?" she asked. "I am officially impressed."

Vegas was fully illuminated by this time, and she honestly had no idea which way to look first; there was something fantastic and breathtaking in every direction. It had been a good choice for the location of their first meeting -- first but unquestionably not last. She couldn't fault the passersby for staring at the Roman chariot gliding imperturbably down the street; it must have looked strange. Would that the girls from the motherhouse could see this...they'd be as tickled by it as I am.

As they reached the theater, she glanced at Pulse. "I can hardly wait to find out what other captivating surprises you have in store."

He grinned at her reaction.

"I strive to make those I want to share desert with... happy."

He blushed.

"Well, we will see. First, alight, fair lady, and accompany me?"

he stepped from the chariot to the ground, and then extended a hand to her.

"Come inside and find a whole new world."

It was an old style theater, with technology hidden, so sound and light was good, but you would not know till it was shown, or sounded.

"You're doing just fine, if that's your intent." She took his hand and allowed him to guide her into the marvelous old building. They were seated at a private table to one side, where they found, once the lights went down, that they were almost totally shrouded in darkness.

Not that the play wasn't good, but Meli almost wished they'd bypassed it and gone straight to dessert. She was too distracted in the theater, thinking about what was to come and about how happy she was to have found someone who understood so well what she needed and wanted -- and more importantly, what she didn't. Pulse didn't seem to crave exclusivity with her, and she appreciated that; it went against her training to be monogamous, after all. Thus far, she appreciated everything he'd done and said with her, and she wanted him to know that.

So while the rest of the room was focused on the murder taking place onstage, she very quietly slipped her hand under the tablecloth and found his knee. It lingered there for a moment, then shifted subtly along his leg.

He smiled at her words.

She was an amazing woman and giving him an excellent night on the town, and he loved it, and being with her.

She seemed to be enjoying this and he was sure she would not be like Lorna, and suddenly right turn to want more. He was enjoying finding a professional and personal link with her, and it was nice.

When her hand touched his leg, his breath hitched a little, and when it shifted, he grinned, turning his head slightly to see her more. The arm he had cast along the back of her chair, he let lean forward a touch more so that his fingers could touch her neck, then just lightly stroke the back of it, a subtle caress.

The reciprocation told her she was proceeding in the right way; she'd learned the subtle art of determining what a client wanted from his (or her) Companion, of course, and it varied from one to the next. Some wanted the Companion to be more demure, but she'd suspected that Pulse would be more appreciative of her making a move. And so it seemed he was. She didn't venture any higher along his thigh, but kept her hand where it was, playing her fingertips over the fabric of his pants. At the same time, she inched a bit to the side so that their bodies were in closer proximity.

All the while, she kept her eyes on the stage, as though riveted by the show. He enjoyed being teased.

"This is really a very good performance," she murmured.

He shivered and nodded, eyes on the show, but oh so aware of her.

"Very. Exactly what the doctor ordered."

He nodded softly as his fingers stroked just under the neck of her dress, caressing skin softly.

She was amazing, and he could feel himself responding, which caused his pants to shift slightly as they tightened around the new, ah, mass...

She couldn't resist a small smirk as the shift became obvious.

"I'm concerned," she whispered, "that you might do an injury to that excellent suit of clothes you're wearing. Perhaps we should leave during the intermission, and go back to your hotel so you can...be more comfortable." She gave his thigh a small squeeze for emphasis. "I want you to enjoy everything, after all."

He groaned softly, but shook his head, hissing in a breath, quietly.

"Brazen thing," she murmured. She didn't try to dissuade him, however.

It took a moment or two for her to do what he had suggested, and her efforts clearly had an effect on him. But she was a trained professional, and it was with only a little difficulty that she managed to continue paying attention to the show while she opened his pants.

She leaned over, hand in place, and breathed in his ear. "Better?"

He chuckled.

"I am what I am."

His breath was a little hitched as she managed it, and he managed not to groan as air hit him, making him harden even more and twitch against her hand.

"Oh yes. I think the matter will resolve itself, especially with such skilled handling."

He turned his head to swipe a soft kiss along her cheek and ear.

"Hot skin and cold air, soft touches and lips licked, all add up, dear woman."

"Let's just take care not to leave a mess...or be overheard," she whispered back. She continued to 'handle' him, listening to the sounds of his hitching breath and efforts not to groan. This wasn't going to take long, if her instincts were on target, but she had to admire his restrained refusal to hurry back to the hotel. He wanted to drag this out, and she liked the idea. Dessert, after all, was something to be savored.

He nodded, shivered slightly.

"There's a large handkerchief in my jacket pocket..."

His words, for her ears alone, recalled his jacket, hung on the back of his seat. Even as his breath shortened and his eyes closed slightly. She was good and she was... handling things quite well.

Amazing woman...

Deftly she retrieved the handkerchief and continued. "A gentleman is always prepared," she remarked softly. His breathing was obviously labored at this point, and she just tried not to chuckle.

"The lights will be coming on shortly, we'd best hurry up...intermission, you know," she hissed lightly in his ear. "Can't be caught." As she spoke, she upped the tempo.

He bit off a cry as she did, and let himself go, his eyes rolling back as he surrendered to the passion welling up in him.

Damn, she was good.

As he felt himself peak and come, he shuddered very lightly and jerked in he hands, coming into the handkerchief, and sighing out a long breath.

His eyes opened as a smile slipped over his face and he looked at her.

"Hmmmmm. I can see I am in very good hands."

With a second to spare before the raising of the lights, Melisande made him presentable again, and returned his smile in an almost catlike fashion.

"Just wait for the encore," she told him.
