"Small presents," she added quickly, not wanting him to get his hopes up for something grand. She watched him a minute, rolling her eyes, "Oh yes. I do love my drugs and alcohol." There wasn't any point to her taking drugs or drinking alcohol. It wasn't as though either had any real lasting effect.
"I don't normally do Valentine's Day," she said by way of an excuse. Rose then reached over and fished the card and flower out. There was also the chocolate he'd bought her. "I figured we could share," she said. She couldn't help but feel silly and mildly embarrassed. Wondering quietly if he would think her terribly and unforgivable juvenile (not that he was one to talk), she waited on his reaction.
