Entry tags:remus lupin (younger), sirius black (younger)

Who: Moony and Padfoot, younger
What: Serious talk about things
Warnings: Possible language. Probably nothing else.

Sirius was not exactly excited for this conversation. It would be easier if he had a solid understanding of what needed to be said. Unfortunately, he was still working that all out, and had a feeling that he would be making up his mind as he was talking things through.

He ran his hand through his hair as he walked up the steps to his house. He tried to look casual as he opened the door and walked in. "Hey," he called, taking off his jacket and tossing it onto the floor.

Remus jumped up when he heard Sirius. He walked over to see him throw the jacket on the floor. He stood a little awkwardly before moving forward to hug him. He was worried. Sirius wanting to talk was a bit scary.

Sirius leaned in to the hug and kissed Remus quickly on the mouth. "I love you," he started. "The other night I went to Wormtail's and tried to get him to sleep with me. He didn't. We didn't." He ran his head through his hair again, hardly pausing for air. "See, he had this dream that we were awful to him and he couldn't keep Prongs from getting bit by a snake. But then he said something. When he was telling me why we couldn't. Said that I can do whatever I want and know I'm still good, but that he has to be more careful. Which, I mean. That's shit, isn't it? Why should it be different for us than him? And Harry's back and it was bloody awful last time, wasn't it? And Prongs shouldn't have to worry about all that."

Remus just looked blankly at him, trying to deal with the intake of information. He tried to figure out which part of that was the focus, which statements were important, since they'd gone over such a large range of topics. "I. What? Okay, you tried to sleep with Wormtail, but he wouldn't. He said he couldn't do it because he doesn't think he's a good person, which is shit. Harry's back, you're worried about Prongs, and I'm not sure what you're wanting to do about that. Is that about everything?" He was trying to sort out what Sirius was saying. He was surprised how much it really didn't bother him that Sirius went to try and sleep with Wormtail, and wasn't sure if it was because he didn't succeed or that he was more okay with the idea in general.

"Right. Well, no. Not because he thinks he's bad, more because. Well, it would be bad, wouldn't it? When he's not you or Prongs or Lily. You'd be mad and hurt and he doesn't think he can get away with as much as I can. He has to do the right thing, see? Doesn't want to slip up one day and wind up a Deatheater the next. But how is that fair? We know he's not gonna go evil. He's Pete. He's our Wormtail. So why should he have to worry so much because of what some barking lady wrote down?" He was pretty sure he was getting off topic, but he was on a roll and found himself unable to stop. "He's no more likely to wake up and be evil than any of us are. Why should we get a 'free pass' to sleep with anyone we please and Pete has to worry about murdering people if he steps out of line? It isn't right."

Moony wasn't really sure what to say. "You're right. It's ridiculous of him to think that. I would be much more angry with you than I would be with him." It was said lightly and, while not meant as a joke, wasn't meant to be taken too seriously, either. "What am I suppose to do about it?"

"What?" Oh, he'd had a point, hadn't he? "So I'm thinking that maybe we shouldn't be doing this anymore." He waved an arm "Everything with Lily and Prongs. They're married and their kid is here and maybe they've got other things to worry about."

Moony just stared at Padfoot for a moment. This was not what he had expected. He wasn't sure what he had expected, but it wasn't this. The first reaction was a feeling of relief. He had been thinking about suggesting the same though, he just wasn't sure. Then he was suddenly a little scared. What if he didn't mean just Lily and Prongs. What if he meant that they shouldn't be doing this meaning any of it... meaning them. "I. Um. You mean. We would still..." he wasn't sure how to ask, "You and me, we would still..." he knew he sounded a little pathetic, but he really couldn't help it at this point.

"Huh?" It took Padfoot a minute to pick up on the insecurity. "Well, yeah. Obviously." Padfoot wasn't exactly one for celibacy, and he didn't really see himself picking up random chicks and doing the one-night stand thing. That was sort of the point. At least, he thought so. He wasn't entirely sure what his point was.

Moony felt a little more calm. As long as he had Sirius. But still... He liked what they had with Prongs and Lily. Logically he knew that maybe they shouldn't, but he had never brought it up because he didn't really want to stop, and now that Sirius had brought it up (who was the last one Moony thought would bring it up) he couldn't pretend he just never thought of it. He felt just a little guilty for feeling happy at the idea in the first place.

"Ah. Good. Are you sure this is what you want? I mean. I'm not going to lie, I've been wondering if it might be the right thing to do, too. But, well, it's Prongs and Lily." He said it like that explained everything even though he had no idea what it was explaining at all. He had no idea if he wanted to try and talk Padfoot out of it or agree.

"No. But. Well. Maybe that doesn't matter. Can't have everything you want." Peter was proof of that. "And the Harry thing." Padfoot had hated being kept a secret the last time. He thought it was stupid. The kid was sixteen, that was old enough to learn about sex. Padfoot knew why James had done it.. That much was obvious from the kid's reaction when he did find out. It made a part of him hate Harry Potter, and he figured this was the only way to make sure it didn't happen again. He didn't stop to think that it might end with him resenting The Boy Who Lived even more.

Moony was a little surprised to hear Padfoot admitting that maybe, what he wanted didn't matter. He never thought he'd hear his friend admit that. And it made him guilty for holding on just because he didn't want to let go, when Padfoot was willing. Then Padfoot brought up the 'Harry Thing' and that was just... well a disaster waiting to happen, the whole thing.

He nodded. "I suppose not."

"Haven't talked to Prongs yet," he admitted. Sirius thought that James was probably the most likely to talk him out of it. After all, he and Lily were the married ones, so really if they were okay with it.. It was about more than that though, wasn't it? Sirius hated their relationship being kept a secret. If he were in Peter's position, where his whole existance was secret... Well, Sirius would probably go crazy. It was a shit thing to do to a person.

"Ah. Right. We probably should talk to Prongs." Prongs would try to talk him out of it. Probably. Maybe.

Sirius nodded. "Yeah. I should probably go soon." He wanted to make sure everyone was in the loop as soon as possible. He didn't want him and Moony to feel like they knew something Prongs didn't. "Maybe now. I should go now."
