He thinks back now to his awkward, unintentional proposal to her a few days ago-- entirely unintentional on his part, initially mentioned as an option, but taken to mean something else.
He's not used to being in an enviable position. He's envied Ray his freedom, his ability to express himself without reservation, without recrimination. He's not sure of the right thing to say at this juncture, but he's already made up his mind to try and do something, though he knows not what, to get her back onto the Force.
