"They're just. . . it's kinda funny, really. I haven't used my real name in years, I never lived in one place longer than I had to, and I only let myself belong to groups like the Six Pack, who weren't exactly the closest of people. Now I've got a house, a family, and my driver's liscence says 'Domino Summers' of all fucking things. Yet, this is the life that feels weird to me."
She laughed a little. "But it's a good weird. And I don't regret losing that life as much as I thought I would when I was living it." Her arms tightened around him a little, her head resting on his chest. Slowly the fear was seeping out of her, and for a moment she just sat there, enjoying being in Nate's arms, the kids' emotions a faint background buzz of warmth and slight squishiness. She eased her grip a little, and the feeling of being squished abated, though not by much.
