There was a different way to view everything and only now was Charlie really going through all of the options. In the end, it wouldn't make a difference; they were stuck there. But the answer was still as intriguing as ever. Honestly, if you didn't want to learn the why behind things than you really had no business being a detective.
There was a measure of comfort it having to share all of this with Reese. They were partners so an inexplicable measure of trust existed between the two of them. They might not always understand each other but that didn't shake the bond that was created when you protected one another's life. It was just that the current circumstances were making him consider that bond.
"After you've had enough prison food you learn to appreciate cooking your own meal." The words were followed with his usual semi-smile. Charlie tried to keep an upbeat attitude about most things and normally succeeded at it. Plus seeing a small look of surprise on Dani's face made it worth the preparation time.
With a thoughtful expression on his face he placed the kitchen knife down and turned to face her after wiping his hands. "It's not random but it doesn't make sense; at least not in the traditional way. And that, Reese, makes us the perfect people for this job." Charlie snuck a piece of sliced cucumber into his mouth and hmmed slightly.
