Ben didn't know what to say to that, staying quiet as Jasper seemed to be offended by the woman's words, "Oi, now, see 'ere," He stepped forward, shaking his head, "You don't know for certain I ain't like your Jasper. What's he like, then? He got a twin brother, does he? 'Orace? And what of his parents? 'Is father a drunk, 'is mother a saint? And what of 'is past? I could tell you it! You don't need to be writin' me off so soon, poppet, it just ain't decent," He wasn't going to let someone judge him without even knowing him, that was for certain. This, of course, made Ben roll his eyes.
"That isn't the point," He said, "You just ain't got the history."
Jasper scowled, "Why don't you stick your nose in someone else business?"
Ben shrugged, "This is going on live in my house." That just made Jasper huff.
