Now that Marco was in tac-mode, he could see clearer. He looked at what he had on the table in front of him and realized that if this was temporary, there was no way in hell he would have enough time to sort of his issues before it went back to normal. A week or two, from what he could tell the general consensus for how long this would last, was nowhere near enough time to fall in love with someone. Not for a guy like Marco.
He walked with Tobias, listening to what he said, ticking little boxes and arranging neat little columns in his head. Things were falling into place and clicking in ways they hadn't since going to the wastes. She did sound pretty good. But, while not the most complimentary of metaphors, so did most used cars. She may very well be just as good as Tobias said, but Tobias had said he didn't know her all that well. He'd have to reserve judgment until meeting her and spending some time with her.
Finally he came to a decision. "I want you to tell me the rules of time travel." His gears were turning now, and he continued, "Maybe this all goes back to normal and I don't remember. That's fine. But if I do? I want to know what I can and can't say and do. And before you say I don't need to know, let me make it clear that if I do remember, I'm going to blunder around in the past - or the present, I guess - with my own ideas anyway, so you might as well do your best to make sure I don't inadvertently unravel time." He grinned, and it never quite reached his eye. "Risk analysis time, Tobias. Am I more dangerous with the knowledge, or without?"
