"I don't think there's enough money, women, or alcohol left in the Western Hemisphere to make Spielberg make that mistake again. Obviously you missed the last Indiana Jones movie? A for effort, but the aliens thing just sort of sold it out." The last was said with an wry smirk, shaking his head slightly.
When Marco started in on his overview of things with Coop- Ceridwen- he sobered up, doing his best to balance listening with watching the way Marco moved, the little ticks and faces he'd gotten used to reading. Spending half of their friendship communicating with thought and body language lead a certain familiarity, and he was trying to see just how much this Marco was like the one he remembered. The answer didn't shock him in the slightest.
He waited patiently for the rambling to stop, giving Marco a minute to stop fidgeting and listen before speaking.
"To be honest? I had no idea what I was going to tell you, five minutes ago. You are, admittedly, not the man I knew a few days ago. And you're sure as hell not the same as we were half a lifetime ago. If anything, your ego's grown and you natural censure has shrank past the point of recognition. Wait, that's- not really a change." Smirk.
"What I'm trying to say is, I don't know you as much as I really should to be making that call for you. What I can tell you, is that you had a good thing. You were a lot less of an ass around her. You calmed down a lot. Admittedly, her family is enough to drive anyone up a wall, but that's a longer story, better for when you're closer to drunk. But I could tell you really did love her. And for good reason. She was just as crazy, self-centered and danger-friendly as you were. Match made in heaven.
"It's also worth mentioning- you're not a dad yet, Marco. She's pregnant. I don't know how far along, but at least you have a few months to adjust to that part. Assuming we're really going to be stuck here." A hand moved through his hair- twenty minutes left, maybe less- but he went on.
"My suggestion? Go talk to her. Grab a bite, spend the night with her, and see how you feel about it. You've got instincts, use them."
He had been watching Marco strap up while he was talking, and finally just sighed, moving his head toward the door. "C'mon. Let's go,"
