"No, it's not you.. it's just... hard to understand these thoughts and feelings. Things are sort of.. Jumbled. We're not used to that."
She relaxed a little against that warmth his touch radiated. It was soothing.
"Well..." it was incredibly difficult for her to verbalize, as she was uncertain of where to draw the distinction between herself and Esme. She didn't want to make it sound as though Esme had acted individually, but she didn't want to tell Quentin that 'we' had made out with James. Instead, she showed him the images mentally: One of the Cuckoos in James Howlett's bedroom, making out with the boy and seducing him telepathically. She had no doubt that he would recognize the girl as Esme, or at least as 'not-Sophie'.
Also imprinted on the thoughts and images were the very complicated sets of relationships between the boy and the other members of the household.. his obsession with Emma Frost, his mother-figure.. his infatuation with Rose, his sister-figure and genetic daughter, and his past sexual relationship with Rachel. Sophie was not sure how these women would all react to the incident, but she doubted it would be pleasant.
