He chuckled and waved it off. "Some things are worth it." He winked at her as he said that.
"Yeah. Something tells me we fared a little better in the court of public opinion thanks to the circumstances. The Yeerks started this shit with us, so we were the defenders, not the aggressors." He shrugged, then pointed out where they were going. "Looks like it's right up there."
He pulled into the parking lot, focusing on what he was doing long enough to get a parking spot. "And amen to that," he added, in regards hindsight. "Wish you could've been around to tell Jake that after the war. Would've saved me a whole lot of worry."
Not that he had been the best friend in the world after the war. He'd been caught up in the glory, and it was one of the few things that could spark a guilty reaction in him. Yeah, he checked up on Jake in morph, but it was a bird morph, high up in the sky. Not a phone call or visit from a friend. For the flash of a second, there was sadness in his eyes, but it was gone as quickly as it appeared. Marco was very good at controlling his emotions.
He got out, and quickly headed around the car to get the door for Jean. "Your caffeinated beverage awaits, my lady," he smirked, even adding in a flawless British accent.
