"Well, that's not so bad. At least you have a place. And you seem to have friends," she commented lightly, not bringing up Jack, exactly. "You're not completely alone." A pause. "Do you want a wife and kids? Or was that tone implying that you enjoy the freedom?" She asked lots of questions and hoped he didn't take her curiosity as rudeness. Before she could say as much, Death turned her head and saw the waitress.
Death perked up a little and starting a very short conversation with her. It was clear that Death was a people person and that she liked hearing their stories. The waitress was a young woman, working her way through community college. After wishing her the best of luck, Death looked at Ennis. "Have you been here before? What would you suggest I get to drink?" Liquor had no effect on Death, so she didn't really care about what she had.
