Who knows what might have kept Sam from making his way 'home' within a reasonable time, but he didn't expect Krissi would bother to care that he was taking a while. No one ever seemed to care where Sam was, if he was out late. He was a non entity, he did little more than take up space in the loves of those around him.
He was humming a little as he walked, enjoying the night air, despite the chill. he'd replaced some yuppie kid, living in what looked to be a wealthy area of town. No parents to harass him. Just a curious room mate, who was definitely a man, but dressed like a woman. Sam might actually like him. her. He wasn't sure which pronoun would be appropriate.
Hearing the tell tale sound of someone walking nearby, Sam froze. Eh. Maybe it was just the echo of his own steps. He shrugged and kept moving, though without the humming.
