Renesmee walked in and looked around a bit curiously. She flashed a smile at Emmett and then looked at Edward, studying him. He looked the same way he always did but he seemed much...younger. A lot different. More serious. She wondered if he knew how to smile.
"Oh, yes. Well, don't be alarmed," she said and held out her hand, touching his face. His skin was slightly colder than her own but she was used to that. She watched him for a reaction and concentrated hard. She started at the beginning, the first thing she could remember. She showed her father himself from her young eyes, which she had just been brought into the world. She went to the first time she saw her mother changed. She reintroduced him to everyone in their extended family. Her thoughts lingered a little too long on Jacob, remembering the way his fur felt, his eyes, embrace... Nessie quickly regained herself and moved onto the Volturi, the alliances, the explanations, the final conflict. The aftermath, their cottage, their friends. Nessie tried to show everything, although still afraid of overwhelming him. But some things were just too bizarre to make up.
The last image she left with him was of him and his mother. They were having a contest and Bella had won. Mostly because Edward had let her. But in the end he had caught her. Mostly because she let him. And they rolled in the grass, laughing and kissing and Renesmee had watched them with happy eyes. They had been a family.
