Owen nodded and kissed her just as she passed out. Getting up, he scrubbed up, prepped, and aided Shields in the procedure. It went fine, actually. There were no complications, other than a little blood loss. Owen, brilliant mind that he normally is, couldn't help but be nervous, which was why it was a good thing Shields performed the surgery.
When it was done, he held Rain in his arms, staring down at her. She looked just like Lyssa, with a little tuft of dark hair on the top of her head. Never before had Owen been speechless.
Sitting beside Lyssa's bed in her private room, he waited for her to wake up.
