Firefly's eyes were wide too, shocked at the monstrosity that had come close to killing her. The fights in Ponyland had not been so potentially fatal as this. She recognized what Carrie had done for her. "Thanks," she said, breathless.
It took the crowd a moment to figure out that the zombies were not in costume, and then the scene erupted into panic. Undead shambled right past the children that had come to enjoy the free candy, and instead focused on teens and adults.
The motion of the crowd brought her back into reality, and she assessed the situation. Nothing here could fly. This was to her advantage. A boy who was playing a video game called Resident Evil back at the dorm had taught her how to kill zombies- sever the spine at the neck. She could drop stuff on the zombies, but it would have to be pretty heavy to crush their spines and that would kill her maneuverability.
She turned just in time to watch a teen in a Gordon Freeman costume running frantically to join the stampede of living humans fleeing the scene. He dropped his iconic crowbar right at Firefly's feet.
It wss a real crowbar, not spray-painted styrofoam. She bent to pick it up. She didn't like the gorey potential of this situation, but it looked like the girls didn't have a choice. She fluttered her wings and took to the air, just out of reach of walking corpses.
She hefted the crowbar and took an experimental swing. She'd always liked baseball.
