"I'm surprised you choose to defend her, Jane," Charles replied, his brow furrowed. He'd read enough of the history books to get by, but in all honesty, he was going with his gut feelings about everything. His frowned deepened.
"Henry claimed I was being hypocritical about Gabriella. That she was like you, somehow." Frankly, he didn't think that Henry thought much of any of the women he claimed to have loved sometimes. It was, of course, why they had remained such good friends for such a long time.
"I apologize. I should not have mentioned that to you. I won't do it again. Promise," he smiled.
