Charles
There was much that she had started to learn, and even things Jade had told her. She looked at her hands before looking at Charles.
"And me?" she asked softly. "While I did not pursue as brazenly, am I no different?" She watched him, choosing her words carefully. "Have you read much of our history?"
She licked her lips some, tucking a lock of blonde hair behind her ear. "I can see why, now, she would do so much to keep him. I do not think she the witch you consider her." She looked at him. "I do not mean as if to defend her. I wish her happiness with her new husband, I do. And I am sure she had her own ambitions in mind when she chose to go after Henry. I do not think she did so alone, however. I was one of her lady's maids and I do think her father was a major influence. Near the end, when I became involved... she just wanted him to love her. Yes the power and the esteem was important to her, but she was deeply enamored with him."
In all honesty, Jane was shocked at her candor and defense of Anne Boleyn. Considering how things ended.
