Sonya carefully took the sword, stepping back and turning aside so she wouldn't accidentally slice him. She slid the blade out of its sheath, studying it close.
"Good news, not only is he skilled, this looked like it would actually cut something." then setting the cover next to her, she held onto the sword with both hands and made a small side swipe with the blade. "Not bad as far as weight goes either. Too many samurai swords are made to look pretty, but the blades of such swords are blunted, and the blades themselves are lighter than the hilts, so even if they could cut something, it takes a lot more effort."
She sheathed the weapon and handed it back to him as he did her. "Though I personally prefer swords originating from China. The styles are more fluid than fighting with a samurai sword, though both are styles are superb in their own way."
