"Thanks. Well, Dad's a retired rock star, so I think that helped. And Mom was brought here from a place that's not even on this planet, so she's as sensible as they come. She always tells about how the first time she met Dad she thought he was an arrogant asshole." He chuckled and grinned, shrugging. "It's because we didn't live with the rest of Dad's old band - where they're from, they're the biggest band in history - and moved away to Sweden. That, and my boyfriend's family is really awesome and stable. We've been friends since I was one and he was two, so that helped."
He thought about her other question for a moment before they reached the portkey. He touched her on the shoulder as he tapped it with his boot, pausing to make sure she wouldn't have any ill effects from going from one climate extreme to the other. "It's second nature to me, really. Vampires, healers, people like me... " He shrugged and picked up a stick that had fallen, coating it with ice. "It's just sort of normal to me."
