"And you're not stubborn?" she replied wryly, to match his smile. "You save the world and won't let anyone do anything nice for you."
She held on as instructed and sucked in her breath as things blurred. She was surprised to see they were already in front of her door. Lois held on for a few more moments, as if making sure there was really solid ground beneath her feet. She'd once again grown unaccustomed to flying, and while it was exhilirating, she needed a minute to right herself.
Lois looked up at him, to say thank you, but realized just how close they were and swallowed instead. There might've been a moment of sorts, if the timing had been different, if he hadn't just saved the world and badly needed rest. She carefully slid down to the ground.
She had a moment of amusement, remembering how she'd tried to compare flying in a plane with Richard with a seatbelt and safety gear, to flying with Superman as he held you, nothing separating you from the wind or the clouds or falling except for his arms and the trust you had in him. There was no question in her mind which was better.
"Thank you," she said with a small smile. "Can I get you anything? Something to eat? Drink?" She'd had the presence of mind to grab her coat before leaving the newsroom, with her keys and phone in the pockets. Trying to appear calm after the end of the world had just been averted, she pulled out her keys to unlock the door and let them in.
