And a wave crashed over the plane as he did, causing it to list one way, then the other, just as a voice said.
"Lady and Gentlemen, you should really be inside on a day like this..."
And the plane slowly, slowly... lifted.
Underneath it, Superman gritted his teeth and moved. He felt like he had gone a hundred rounds with Darkseid. Then he blinked. Who was Darkseid?
But he shook his head and concentrated as the plane slowly gained height against the storm, and he lifted it, almost hanging on to it as much as lifting, willing his strange connection to gravity to work this time and take them upward.
"This seems familiar, Miss Lane."
Then he smiled as they lifted truly clear of all the water and he turned them toward the shore.
"Hang on everyone, we should be at the dock soon."
They moved that way, and he gritted his teeth at how slow it felt, but finally they reached the shore and the dock, and people gaping at him as he set the plane down securely on the dock, not beside it.
He waited for the crew to get out safely before he nodded to Lois.
"Miss Lane. Seems as if we have played this tune before."
He smiled to her, not quite trembling where he stood.
