It had been a weird day. He'd been joking when he'd suggested that he would rather spend the night in than go out and crimefight with Carrie, but the speed of her reaction meant that she probably wanted to stay in more than she'd admit. And then he'd made a passing mention of tying her down (metaphorically speaking), and she'd been very quick to volunteer (non-metaphorically speaking). Clearly it was his responsibility to pay attention to his wife.
Dick walked up behind Carrie and slid his arms around her waist. "I think I promised my girlfriend something, but I can't quite remember what." Smiling, Dick pressed his lips to her neck. "Might have involved something in this vein," he muttered.
