Entry tags:johanna barker, malakai chmelyk

Who: Malakai Chmelyk and Johanna Barker
What/Where: Catching a bite, the streets of London
When: Backdated to the night Johanna posted.
Warnings: Vampirism, perhaps? But Malakai will be on his best better behavior.

Having used the magical transports a few times already himself, he was well versed in the area where the device was going to plant Johanna, and made sure to be there as soon as night fell, not wanting to leave her waiting. It wasn't that he necessarily considered her frail, considering what he knew of her creator and their likenesses, but at the least, he wanted to be the gentleman.

Leaning against the wall, there was a cigarette hanging from his lips, a longstanding habit when he was trying to stretch his patience. It wasn't that Johanna was late, no- he was starved, and not patient on his best of days. Still, he would behave himself until she seemed alright with him, no matter what the throbbing in his head had to say about it. He owed it to her, and Miss Sedant both.

Johanna arrived with a sway and a giggle, shaking her head, she'd only used the portkeys a handful of times, and she rather enjoyed the feeling of vertigo before the world settled into place again.

Once it had she sobered, or at least collected herself, smoothing a hand over her skirt and giving Malakai a wave before padding over, she'd caught on rather quickly on how to move in almost total silence.

She smiled, giving him a brief curtsy, "Good evening." She chirruped.

His bow was equally quick, but no less respectful, as the sight of her slight bounce and smile made his own grin widen, cigarette tossed aside so he could speak without distraction.

"And to you as well. It's so good to finally meet you in person. I hope the night has found you well?"

Her smile just spread, edging towards predatory but utterly sweet at the same time. It was just a Thing.

"Quite well as a matter of fact, and yourself?" Her head tilted, looking far more birdlike than she had any real right to. A shrug followed, "As I mentioned I know the older parts of London far better than the new."

(sorry for the delay, 'net's still wonky, not sure if it's going to work at all)

"Wonderful, dear. I'm doing quite alright. A little parched, but nothing that a small drink won't cure." Which was true on both accounts- his throat was a little dry, and he could tell his need for blood was building, the thrum in his veins almost audible. Still, he ignored it, in favor of offering his arm to her, with a small wave.

"Then might I suggest we start our walk, and once you're comfortable, you might show me around?"

She was beaming at that point, accepting the offered arm lightly, she really was more of a kitten than a bird, but this was a fairly new development all said, but she was taking to it quite well.

She nodded, "I could do with a quick nip as well, so nice to be able to have a proper dinner without falling asleep looking for it." It only took her a moment to get her bearings, heading towards the river first, it was her favorite landmark, you could get anywhere from the river.

Malakai gave her a bit of an odd look for the statement. "You had been falling asleep on the hunt?" That struck him as odd- the adrenaline rush was usually enough to keep him at an almost-high, let alone just awake. Following her lead, he kept half an eye out to the surroundings, wanting to map the area for himself.

[ooc: Sorry, this tag must have gotten buried in my trash D:]

She waved a hand dismissively, "For a while yes, as was Calliope, and most everyone, really. But that's stopped now and it's much nicer not to have to eat dinner out of a bag."

A somehow demure shrug followed, "Though I really didn't mind that. Until I started catching my own dinner of course." The predatory smile was back, the one that looked sweet from the right angle.

(Nope, only just posted, internet's still wonky)

Not being at the angle to see the sweetness in Johanna's smile, Kai could still appreciate the look. He should have known better, than to assume the girl would be by any means in need of protection or guidance; like Calliope, she was plenty self-assured, and had enough deception in her outward appearance to do well for herself. He almost envied her still having the sense of innocence, to make gathering the prey that much easier.

"Yes, well. I had lived off of processed food for some time before coming here. As a diplomat of sorts, it was frowned upon for me to have anything fresh. It's been rather... invigorating, to have the option again, here." A beat as he looked around the crowd, watching some of the passers-by give them strange looks- he glared, getting them to back off. It wasn't that he minded the looks, really, but staring was universally rude.

"If you see something you'd like, dear, don't hesitate to stop. I know I won't," He gave her a cheeky grin with that, her hand receiving the smallest of squeezes.

She actually laughed at that, the sound bright and amused, shaking her head, "Not here, there're people who watch here. Pirates." She shrugged, she'd not met the pair yet, but she'd heard stories, "We've no formal sort of rule or governing body, but we do have to answer to our own if we take too much or too often or too high profile."

She shrugged then, "And there's hardly any sport in it, picking someone out from a crowd like this one." Another dismissive hand-wave, "Much more fun if there's a chase first." She gave his arm a gentle tug, moving off away from the busier streets, she was still moving almost silently, apparently fully aware of her surroundings. For someone who'd spent most of her life in an ivory tower, of sorts, she knew her way around quite well.

"I wasn't aware we were that close to their ground, I apologize. I suppose I do owe that much to Master Turner, for agreeing to speak with me," He listened to the rest of her speech, smiling as she seemed excited by the chase. He was able to keep up with her easily, moving swift and silent through the streets.

"I do happen to agree, but I wasn't sure if you would choose to run, dressed as you are," He meant no judgement by the statement, just that he hadn't expected her to take off, in such a skirt.

There was another bright laugh, "I've no idea if we are or not, actually, all I know is that they tend to stay away from Fleet Street, as should we, it's only fair." She released his arm only long enough to give a quick twirl, "And I can run just fine, it's not the skirt that's as much of a problem as the shoes."

She tugged the edge of her skirt up just enough to stick out a foot, "And I've finally got a pair of those that I like." Stylish, a little sporty, and comfortable for walking, running, or tromping along riverbanks, as she did on occasion.

Her spirit was fresh, upbeat, not yet worn down by the jaded cynicism that comes with watching the centuries break down everything you'd known. It was refreshing for Malakai, and he couldn't help a laugh himself, stepping out of her way as she spun.

"I can see that. Very nice, dear."

Another smile, shrugging one shoulder, "Quite helpful, really. And now." She was casting out, head tilted, just listening for prey, they were far enough away from the crowd now that she didn't figure anyone they ran across would be much missed, if they hadn't been missed already.

She was humming faintly, just on the edge of hearing, and the predatory smile emerged a moment later, "Well, do we want something quiet, simple, or something with a little more kick?"
