Lyssa was wandering around with Danny bundled up in her arms. Rain had finished homework and all her chores and gone over to Kit's to feed the rabbit that still wasn't allowed in the house. Lyssa had by then tried everything to get Danny to settle, all the things she'd done to get Rain to go to sleep but none of them were working with Danny. She headed back to put Danny in his crib. Once he was tucked in she sat on the floor next to it, hand through so Danny knew she was still there. "Danny-bear, I'm still here, go to sleep honey." She started humming a lullaby to him that her mother had when she was little. Smiling and still rocking slightly even though the baby wasn't in her arms. She couldn't get happier even without Danny wanting to sleep. She hoped Owen would solve the problem when he got in since wearing one of his shirts hadn't helped all that much, but she was comfy wearing his clothes anyway.

Owen was quiet when he got home. He didn't know if the family was asleep or not. As usual, he didn't get home when he wanted to. He was late. That was the life of Torchwood. He was used to it by now.

Slowly he padded through the flat, finally making his way the the room Lyssa was in. Leaning in the doorway, he watched them for a moment, smiling in spite of himself. Yes, he smiled a lot more lately. And it was all Lyssa's doing.

"Hey," he whispered.

Owen laughed. “He’s still awake?” He walked over to the crib and leaned over the side, smiling at his son. He watched as Danny giggled and smiled back at him, arms reaching out. “Ah ah… Nope. You need to sleep. I might have plans for you tomorrow.” He didn’t, but it worked in his head. He winked and started to rock the crib, humming a soft tune. He didn’t sit, but he wanted to, looking back and forth between Danny and Lyssa.

“How you doin, luv?”

"Yeah, he is." Lyssa stood up and wrapped her arms around Owen's waist as she stood next to him.

"Oh I'm just tired, wanting to get out more. Least I get to help with Rain's homework to keep me from going entirely mad. History projects. If the girl doesn't get a high grade I might have to go hurt someone." She kissed him on the cheek.

"What about you? Been busy all day?"

"Yeah, busy."

He kissed her cheek. "Work work work. Which you wouldn't even believe. I feel like I never talk to the team anymore, just focus on the work. It's ruddy stupid, really. We should both get out more." Truth was, between work and raising a family, he was becoming a home body. It was probably very boring to anyone that wasn't them.

"Is she at least getting the history?" He raised an eyebrow and looked over his shoulder at her. "Are you teaching her our history or yours," he teased.

"Try me." She wanted to know what he'd been doing, boring or otherwise she did. "And we should. Get someone to babysit for us, even if we just go round the corner for dinner out. It'll be us out." The idea sounded tempting and at least she could spend time out of the house but close enough to still be around.

"You know she prefers science to history, but I'd at least like to think I'm making it slightly more interesting for her." Lyssa only hoped the teachers would believe it. "All of it. Why you want to learn too?"

He snorted. If the teachers believed her. That was the point, wasn’t it? Fill the kid’s head with tales that weren’t true and she would probably get into the shit. “Sure, teach me. Teach me what you’ve been teaching Rain.” He leaned down and kissed her cheek.

“Dinner might be fun.” He looked down at her. “We can make Kit do the babysitting. Not like she’s doing much of anything else.”

Oh what Lyssa knew and had told Rain was all true. It just wasn't what had been recorded in history. That was the problem with time travel you get the proper story not just what was recalled. "Oh it was about the Romans and that."

She smiled. Little thing but special now they had family, time together on their own was scarce sometimes. "I think she's trying to live up to the Harper name maybe." Lyssa chuckled quietly, before looking over. She didn't want to wake Danny back up.

"Have some faith in her. She has to learn for herself." Lyssa worried about Kit like she was her own, in a way she was. But she knew there was a line she couldn't overstep since she was just her step mother.

"They were completely batshit." Lyssa laughed walking around. "They gave me a purple toga and called me a goddess." She sat down next to him then. "They tied cushions on their heads when the volcano errupted."

Owen blinked up at Lyssa. "Please tell me you didn't feet that shit to Rain? Did she go in and tell them that? That's... Even if it is true, luv, you can't have her telling them that shit. They're going to think she's full of it. They won't believe that bloody crap."

He shook his head. And oh god if Kit was having sex, he did NOT want to think about it. But now that's all he'd think about.
