Finally, she was something more than a failed karaoke-bar-owner, or an aspiring singer, or even a lifeguard/high-schooler. She could be a singer, a real singer! She didn't give a thought to anyone else in the band because she hadn't met them, and like Henry said, he wrote the songs and did most everything anyway, right?
Her arms were around his neck as she kissed him and she was glad that he held her in place so that she wouldn't keep bobbing up and donw in the water on him only... she stopped kissing him suddenly and stared at his face in surprise.
"I..."
She'd felt... he was... with her? Gabriella hadn't gone anywhere except to second base, maybe. "Henry," she started, not sure how to phrase it, "I am so thankful for your help for everything. I am, really, but... I'm just not.... ready. For that."
She hoped he understood. She'd heard stories about other boys who only wanted sex and dumped their girlfriends when they didn't get any.
