He stared off over her shoulder. "Well. Hmmm." He cleared his throat. Yeah, he never thought he'd be in this position either. "You already proved you're too tough for that. If he doesn't know that, that you can take care of yourself? He doesn't deserve you. None of them do."
Wow, she was still crying. "...I get you. I know what you are and what you're not. You're 16 years old. You've seen alot of things you probably shouldn't have--that's just life, but you get that and none of the rest of them do. You don't live by anybody else's plan, and you don't let anyone tell you how to live or move or breathe, and you break the laws of physics sometimes. And sometimes I pretend to myself that I don't know any of those things or I imagine you're these other things but you're more than enough by yourself to pretty much power a third world country."
