"I do not see how. As I understand it, I seem to be old enough to be left on my own till all hours, but not old enough to make any important decisions for myself. It is quite odd."
She grinned at him. "No, it isn't silly at all. I have been wondering how I could use what I can do to help people here, to make this world a little better. I'm sure that the things people here teach would be of help to me in that way. It is just...I hear girls around here talking about being nurses and doctors, lawyers and all manner of things that were once only the purview of men...or else not something one could aspire to at all. I do not have a satisfactory answer to 'what shall I be when I grow up.'" She shrugged. "But I suppose those things come in time."
